ALL poodle people

I am helping my friend find a standard. How does this one look?

RE: proto and other poodle people

does she look black or chocolate? I can't decide with this picture. My friend is looking for a poodle that she can have fun grooming, so one with good hair is essential. We are looking at some pups on sunday, and we want to go see her. Any suggestions on what we need to look for and the questions we need to ask?

She looks very sweet, and a sweet price too.  I would ask where they got her, because they will help to figure how her health will be.  People find healthy dogs thru hobbyist breeders too though.  If you do decide on her, take her to your vet (her vet) to check her heart out, and do a full blood panel.  Better to find out now whats going on and make a good decision rather than find out later that the dog has something major going on with it and have to pay alot of money mothly to keep her going.

Getting a dog this way is much like going to the shelter, you don't always know the whole truth.  I give them props though for making the decision to rehome her.  That is a hard thing to do. When you love a dog. But people don't always know what they are getting into when they get a poodle.

I'd say she is black. It could be the lighting thats giving her muzzle a brown tint to it.  Black poodles also can turn blue, which is more of a gunmetal grey but that takes up to two years for the change.

So far, she looks good, likes kids. Pretty much potty trained.  Blacks tend to have a thicker coat than say apricots or browns. Their coats hold their shapes better. I would say their coats are more like a course afro, as apposed to a soft afro that will relax more.  I would check her out.

She does look like a sweetie but then again most spoos do to me!  She doesn't come up on the link anymore (at least didn't for me - I even searched thru the listings trying to find the write up on her).

I do agree - Farley started out black but has turned into a blue and his hair is much coarser than Chloe who is cream.  It's funny tho that I didn't realize the difference and always thought his coat was black until I met another adult black spoo & I was amazed at how much blacker the other one's coat was.
