I need your opinons! Right now I live in a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house. The third bedroom isnt really a bedroom it is so small. This house was built in the 30's and nothing in this house is new. The one thing I love about this house is the real big yard. However the dogs spend a lot of time playing inside too.Nothing in this house is working, and it has no closet space. Im renting this house.
I have a chance to move into a 4 bed room 1 & 3/4 baths house. It is about 3 mintues away. It is a lot bigger at 1400 sf, the house im in now is 900. The drawback is the yard is a lot smaller, but they still have room to run around a bit and play some fetch. and the fence is completly secure and no one can see threw it which i like.It is also longer then wider which i like too, the house im in now is square so everything is close and you can hear everything.
So i dont know if i should sacrfice the yard or not for a bigger house. This one has so many closets and so much more space. It also is a lot prettier looking, and has a lot of color inside.
One more big thing about this new house is that there is an empty lot next to it, there is going to be a house bulit on it soon. Im wondering how bad that will be. The master bedroom is on the oppisite side though, so maybe it wont be so bad?
I like this new house though except for those two things. The kitchen is huge too which i would love and all the appliances are new too. The ones I have now are from the 40's...lol.
Thanks for any feedback! I cant decide, I want the dogs to be happy too!
Well I think the dogs probably spend more time inside than outside if they are anything like my 2. So more room inside would be a good thing for them as well as you. You say the yard would still be big enough for them to enjoy a game of fetch and the fencing is completely secure. That is another plus.
It will be noisy when the new construction starts but that will only be temporary.
Syd- If your only concern is the construction...do it. I live in a neighborhood that has lots of new homes being built...6000 sqft monsters..UGH! But trust me...it's no big deal. They legally can not start working until 7am so it's no big deal.
I'm in an old house, rental, also. The house you describe sounds great, the yard is more than enough for the critters. Will the landlord even consider someone with as many pets as you have? Around here 99% of the rentals allow no pets, or only one small dog...
kitty is right about the pets. you should make sure the landlord is okay with pets, as you have alot of them. it sounds like a great place though. if the landlord is cool with all your pets , then i say go for it.
I agree with dusty and kitty. Around here they have a 20lb weight limit. When I was looking for a new place down near the gulf the house I showed ya'll was the only one that didn't have a 20lb weight limit. I did fine one where they said yes to dogs and cats but the cats had to be declawed and the dogs had to stay outside all the time. Just because they say yes to dogs and cats doesn't always mean that you can live with your pets the way you want. Talk to them about it first.
that is true too. its really hard around here to find places that rent to pet owners. alot of people are real strict when they say NO PETS. we have been lucky with the places we rented. now that we are buying our home, we dont have to worry about it. but you need to be very honest with the landlord about what pets you have and how many. it would be a real pain to give up the place that youre in now and then get booted out of that one after you move in.
When me and my mother were looking for another place to go we came across an apartment that we liked but we couldn't keep trinity if we moved there so we said no. The also told us that there is a website made for people with dogs looking for a place to rent. I will see if I can find the website. If I find it I'll put it up here.
Thanks guys! I think I am gonna rent it. They asked if I had any dogs and I told him and he said "That will be good with the fence, its very secure." It wasnt what I was expecting but it was the response I needed...lol.
The construction was a major thing, but it wont be forever hopefully...lol.One thing I forgot to mention in my first post is that the landlord of the new place said the windows were NOT double pane, so we would hear the construction, however as I said the bedroom is on the other side of the house away from the vacant lot. But b/c the windows are single pane, will that be super loud? If they start at 7am when do they have to stop?
Are there people you can call to come clean a house before you move in? I didnt have them clean the house I currently live in cause i was to anxious to move, I ended up cleaning it myself and it really sucked. I'd like to get someone in there to clean a day or two before move in if we get it.
Thanks agian everyone! And thanks for that link PD, but I only saw apartments, not houses. With my four beast I need some kind of yard...lol. But I'll keep that link bookmarked just incase.
My sentiments exactly. Go for it it sounds great. About the noise, you actually get used to it and tune it out after a while. These days, houses go up really fast, a few months go by and its done. Plus its good for you to get in there first. New home owners excepting new come-ers with dogs might be not as excepting. If they were there first, they have to endure the occassional bark. Sounds great.
Hey did you go to the Van Nuys pet rescue Festival. I was there sunday.
