when a few drinks make a man think more clearly

a man had had a very hard day at the office. he was looking forward to getting home. all he had to do was stop by the daycare and pick up their two year old son and then a quick stop at the liquor store.and then he could get home and relax. he picked up a bottle and then stopped at the daycare and loaded his sleeping son into the car. as he sat behind the wheel, he decided to have just a little nip before he headed home. one nip led to another ...and another...and another until he was feeling very relaxed and ready to face whatever came his way. as he was driving along the highway, he rolled down the window and felt the cool breeze brush his face. it felt wonderful so he drove a little faster and a little faster until he came to the curve that led onto the bridge. he swerved , overcompensated and hit the guardrail and sailed over the bridge.as he was falling ,he reached for the widow button and rolled it down so that he could get out when the car started to go under. as the water started to come inside he went out the window, swam to the shore and laid on the bank patting himself on the back for how well he handled a bad situation. he was brilliant. he had come through like a pro. those drinks sure helped him think more clearly............

until he remembered that his son had been asleep in the backseat of the car.....................

i know. i cried when i read that. when i used to go out with my friends, i would see people leave the bar so drunk they could barely walk let alone drive. but they would get behind the wheel and take off. they scare me not only for themselves, but moreso so for other people on the road. my cousins only daughter and grandchild were both killed one night by a drunk driver.their blazer was almost unrecognizable. she was able to get out of the truck and get her baby daughter out. and she died on the side of the highway clutching her dead baby. he had just lost his other child, a baby boy, to crib death not even six months before that. i saw the pain of losing both his kids and his only grandchild and it was unbearable. i would drink on occasion, but i never took another drink after that. sooo sad

Yea thats one problem we have over here. The cops know what time the bars close and it seems like that the time you see less cops on the road.

Sad story.
I serve drinks in a bar.
These days, not many parents drink. I still get single people, or folks that don't have kids with them, that drink too much on occasion. We are pretty tight with people, though. Anytime a waiter there has drunk customers, they get heat from the manager. The other waiters, too, will say "what did you do to them?"
Laws in California are pretty tight on alcohol. I think that one drink makes you illegal to drive.

Sad...

I drink on very few occasions. Like when Kaitlyn is spending the night with her grandparents...which isn't too often. But if Kaitlyn is with me I might have one small glass of wine and even then I am at home. I have had too many friends die in car wreaks from drinking and driving.

I've had 2 of my best friends die in accidents caused by drunk drivers. If I drink hubby doesn't and if he drinks I don't. The one thing I hate more than anyhting is a drunk driver. My friend Dave was killed on the way to the hospital when his girlfriend was in labor with their son. I had to break the news to her during labor that he was killed. He was brought into the same hospital as she was giving birth. I never told her that. It killed her enough just to find out he had been killed.
