Hyde's new habit

Hi everyone!Hope everyone had a good turkey day!

I've been noticing this new habit Hyde has picked up, its not a big deal but just a little annoying when trying to get him in the car.

Are normal ritual for car rides, is i have all the dogs on leads but Hyde, he never strays from my side. Anyway while the girls all jump into the car, Hyde normally stays by the door waiting, then he either jumps in or i pick him up and put him in.

So lately he started circling around the car while the other dogs are getting in, then when i say "Hyde get in" he keeps circling the car.

I know i should and i will put a lead on him when leaving the house, but im wondering why he started this? Also he doesnt always jump in the car by himself, half the time i have to pick him up and put him in like he is a little puppy, but he is 6 months and 50 pounds. I've never had a problem before with a dog who doesnt always jump in the car.

Maybe I've helped him in too much when he was younger, but how can i get him to jump in on his own all the time? I encourage him and tell him he is good while patting the seat and showing him what needs to be done. It seems that only when he is hyper and worked up he jumps in the car.

Any suggestions? I do believe he is gonna get bigger and i dont want to have to pick him up and put him in for the rest of his life.

Thanks

Hmmm, maybe he is anxious.  I think maybe use the lead and pull up on the lead toward the car, so he knows that the direction he should go.  doing that will get him knowing the drill.  LOL 6 months he is still a pup in his brain. Just a big one.  So anyways repitition and using the same door will get him where you want him.  Mine always go to the driver side. I make rufus sit beofre he gets in, cause he sits in the back. He used to jump straight into the drivers door. Not anymore. Isn't it funny too, that they know when to go to the car and when to go to other areas. LOL

Oh, when I first read the title I did not know if I was going to see Hyde dressed like a Nun or what. You know wearing a habit. LOL Thats what they are called right? LOL

All I can say is stop picking him up and putting him in the car. If you keep doing this then he will think "oh hey I can keep doing this and my mommy will pick me up."

Storm used to get all hyped up to go for a ride but she would never jump in. What I did was used treats to get her to jump in, after awhile she just started jumping in. Now I have a problem with her jumping threw the windows to get in if they are down. LOL

my ex had a golden retriever that he used to take out to the pig farm . he was teaching her to herd the pigs. she really got into it and wouldnt get in the truck when it was time to leave. so one day he drove off and she chased him down the road for about a half mile before he pulled over. she got right in and never had a problem after that ! lol
