This has been on several other boards. Diamond has had some toxin issues in it's foods, causing several deaths in NY. I know some people here feed Diamond. Apparently, Diamond is not eager to make this known. Sad
Thanks, Katz I passed to just about most of the Labrador people in So Cal, right now. I put it on the Lab Forum and the big dorks moved it to the diet section, so it may not get noticed there :(
I got some phone calls yesterday at work from some customers about it. The first guy I dont know what he was wanting me to do, he just kept saying Diamond wants distrubters to put diamond food on hold etc. I dont know if he was wanting to return the food his wife had bought a couple of days before or what. The second call I got the lady told me about Diamond wanting to hold the food and I told her as I told the second guy, Unless I get a call from my boss (as much as I want to put it on hold and not let anyone buy it if there is problems) I can't do it. Otherwise I can get into trouble for it. She actually asked if she was able to bring food back that she bought 2 weeks ago. I told her as long as it was within the 30 days and she had her receipt that was fine.
Stinks being part of a corporation and being not very high on the chain, I can't just put something on hold or take it off the floor until I get the okay from the higher-ups. :(
This is what Diamond wants to do about it. They are very much downplaying it, saying" they had two calls." I'm guessing they had an avalange of calls [and are lying] because MANY dogs seemed to have died from this food, and there was no saving them, once they began showing symptoms. http://www.diamondpetfood.com/
Update: Went into work today prepared with the print offs from Diamond's website. There was no need. My boss had already gotten some calls and checked with his boss. All of the Diamond food has been pulled until we can be sure that what we order will not be part of the "contaminated" food.
Those of you who might be feeding these brands need to be aware of this problem. If you are feeding any of these brands, please use the contact numbers provided in the press release.
Cool. Official notice. Those skags at Diamond put up on their web-site, the other day, they had "recieved two calls" that there was a problem. BULL, I say. I almost called them myself the other day, I don't even feed Diamond's products. I say their phone was friggin' ringing off the hook, while those dogs were getting sick all over the east coast... They are acting like nothing is going on to save their butts. I have seen this happen before, and the other companies left the contaminated product on the shelves, while Nature's Recipe yanked theirs, immediately. It was many years ago, I don't believe dogs died from that contaminated grain, but several companies had bid on the same grain. I have always fed Nature's Recipe [I considered how they treated the problem very reputable], but Diamond trying to kick this under the rug just makes me sick. I knew there was a reason I never liked Costco's food, besides the fact that it smelled like trash [seriously, it had a very disagreeable odor].
