what do you guys think?

When I first rescued Bear I had only planned on keeping him till he was old enough to go to his forever home. The second day I had him, i went to the dog park because I know a lot of good people there, and i was hoping i could find Bear a good home with someone who went to the park.

There is this regular at the park, she has only one dog, a 120 pound dog named clifford. When I was at the park everyone told me that Clifford's mom was looking for a dog, so i went on a search for her there and found her. I showed her Bear and she just loved him. However she said she was looking for a 2 year old dog but that she really loved him and that she had to ask her husband first. She gave me her number and told me to call the next day in the after noon.

So the next day I call and her husband answers, he tells me she stepped out for a second and to call back in 45 min. So I call back and get the machine, I leave my name and number and tell her to call me back about the puppy. Well she doesnt call me back. I went back to the dog park and my friends told me she is kind of flaky and has expressed intrests in other dogs at the park before saying she wanted them but then never actually taking them, so when a week passed without a call I figured her husband said no or she decided she didnt want a puppy.

Now I have spent all this time with Bear and I have fallen in love. He is great and fits in perfectly at my house. We have established a routine already and I am so impressed with how good Bear is doing, considering how young he is. I have decided to keep Bear and since I want to be a dog trainer Im gonna train him to be my model dog. He is just so good i cant let this one slip away, he will be perfect for my training program and he is just so great to have around the house.

So 2 weeks pass and i have decided to keep Bear myself. I get a call the other day from a volenteer at the dog park. She says she is with JC(the lady who wanted Bear 2 weeks prior) and says that JC wants Bear. Now I dont know what to say.

I keep thinking if she wants Bear then why didnt she call me back when i called her? Why did she wait 2 weeks to tell me it was ok? If she would have called me back when she was suppose to I would have given Bear to her, but it has been 2 weeks now with no word, and I fell in love with the little guy. I know if it was me and I wanted a puppy I would have called back right away and been very anxious and I would be keeping in touch, but i got no call nothing.

So basically I dont know what to say. She is a nice lady but she is flaky and thats what everyone at the park is telling me too. Also why is she having other people call me, if she wants the dog shouldnt she be calling me herself? It just seems odd.

Anyways I know i have to call her or at least call the volunteer back, i dont think i have JC number anymore, i threw it away when i didnt hear from her.

What would you guys do, Im defintly not giving bear up now, but would you give a puppy to someone who acted like this? It just seems too weird to me cause everytime im looking for a dog or find one i want to adopt im so excited, and i would definitly call and keep in touch with who ever had the dog.

sorry this is so long, im just wondering if this women sounds weird to just me or if im not alone. Thanks

Having bred and sold dogs for 30 years, I can tell you the lady needs to express more interest.
Call the volenteer back, to tell her that if the woman likes the dog, she must call you, and leave your number.
DO NOT be immediately available to her! Schedule her to come for an interview at your house, and, if she even follows through at all, tell her you would like to see her house. If she balks anywhere in the process, blow her off.
If she does not want the dog passionately enough to spend a few minutes getting him, she will off him in a heartbeat, when he makes his first mistake with her.
Let her work a little to get the dog.
DO NOT CALL HER.
DO NOT TALK THROUGH SECOND PARTIES ABOUT HER GETTING THE DOG.
If she won't call and spend time for the dog, she just had too much coffee the day she decided she wanted him.
I'm dancing around with a lady that says she wants my stud dog, Buck. She is not hot enough after him, and we have not met yet. It is the holidays, so I will give her that, but I am not calling her. I am politely e-mailing her replies, but SHE can do the calling, if she wants this dog.
You will find that the good homes for your dogs are very tenacious people that know what they want, and will do backflips to get it. A person that won't even call you herself, is not worth your time, but they will likely waste a lot of your time, anyway.

Now IF you were still interested in finding Bear a home, I would do what Kitty said. BUT since you now want to keep him, drop her like she did to you. If you see her again and she asks why you did not call her back, tell her you never called me back. If she says but my friend called.  You say, I was not adopting to her. You did not seem genuinely interested.  The dog is no longer up for adoption. Poop on that lady. Kitty is so right, if a person wants a dog, they go out of their way to get it.

I'm with Puttin. Now that you decided to keep Bear, don't even bother calling her back. Just keep Bear! Even if you were going to give Bear up, I wouldnt give it to her.

He is a moose, he is 6 weeks and probley over 10 pounds now, i weighed him 5 days ago and he was 10 pounds, seems to gain a pound every two days or so i think, he isnt fat though, just one really healthy pup.. He is so cute too, i really want to get some pics up.
