Okay, as many of you know I found a rather large lump on my lower neck on Saturday the 14th. I went in for a CT Scan on Thursday the 19th......well I got the results today....They said it was a "low density mass in my lower left thyroid" I have no idea what that means. My doctor said that was all the notes that were left on the chart. He said he does not know what it is and so now I have a ultrasound scheduled for Friday! He also said that this would have to be biopsied(sp?) Why not just biopsy it now and find out? We do not have any insurance so this is going hit us VERY hard. This sucks! I will update you all again when I get the ultrasound done.
So sorry to hear about whats going on. I know first hand that most doctors like to do all teh exptra testing just to get more money. Just tell him to do the biopsy..since it seems they will have to do one anyway. I know after all was said and done with my dad, his insurance ended up paying almost 200 thousand dollars. It was just a miracle that he had such good insurance because there is know way we could have ever paid that amount in this life-time.
Good luck with the ultrasound Friday! Hope it turns out to being something insignificant and nothing to worry about! A gal I work with had a similar problem and they removed the growth on her thyroid with no problem and it was benign. She just has a slight scar which she easily covers with a necklace.
Check and see if you are eligible for any medical assistance to help out with the expenses. It can't hurt to check into it.
