Ok i need help I woke up yesterday with a round thing on my upper arm. I went to the pharmacy today and asked them about it. They said it looks like ring worm. I got some cream but I had some questions.
1. Do ring worms only come from cats?
2. Are they always visiable on an animal if they have ring worms?
and
3. If it is one of my pets what the fastest way to get rid of the ring worms?
I know if it is one of my pets that I will have to keep them away from the other animals until the ring worms go away so my other animals dont get it.
1) Ringworm can be transmitted from dog to cat, cat to dog, and to human
2) no it's not always visible to the naked eye...it shows up as patches of missing hair usually
3) taking them to the vet and they will diagnose whether it's ringworm or not, i.e. a skin scrape...and they'll give you the right medicine for treatment
I did that and they said trinity and non of my cats have ring worms so I'm not quite sure where it could have some from
the only other animal i was around was my freinds dog and they tested her today and she doesnt have it either so at the moment i'm clueless at were it comes from
Ring worm is a common "disease" (i guess that's what it would be called) among wrestlers. They get it because it is very easilly transferred from human to human by body sweat and not properly cleaning their bodies between practices and the mats not being sterilized.
I got ring worm a few times as a child. Seems like I remebr them telling me i got it from playing the dirt and such. We always just put clear nail polish on it till they disappeared. Something like the nail polish suffacates the worms or something. I don't know but it always worked.
LOL, its not worms. Its a fungus. I've heard of people try to suffocate them with vasoline. But just get a arthletes foot product, if the nail polish does not work, He he. Tell me what worked for you. Be careful, you could end up giving it to your dog. I have this stuff called neem oil, you can put it striaght on the skin or in lotions and shampoos. Kills any fungus or bug. The neem tree no bug or anything will go near it. In india they have used that tree product for 1000's of years. I used a bar of soap that I had bought with it in it, becuase I had this rash on my arm that nothing else would heal for about 6 months. I had no insurance so I kept hunting for a solution. That bar of soap healed it along with the neem lotion in 3 days. Ha. Must of been a fungile type of rash.
Oh there was this gal on our block with a rash that would not go away, her parents were making her put neosporin on it. Itd did nothing, I cut her a peice of the soap gave her some of my lotion and it went away.
Thanks, Puttin, I want to try that stuff on a rash, and on the black ants that are in my kitchen. I poison them, but it is hard to find their point of entry. I don't really go to war with them, because they keep nastier things away. I was told this house is built on an anthill, 25 years ago. It is resistant to other, biting ants, and termites, because the colony is so strong. I think this stuff will disrupt them...you know ants follow scent trails of other ants. When you obscure the path they are following it helps get rid of them. There are ways to take out entire colonies, but that would leave me screwed with the other vermin. You should see how many come up from the ground, when I water. Honestly, I try not to bother them. I'm no Hindu, but the poor little things, packing babies and all on their backs when their tunnels flood, is kinda sad. They don't bite, and are only seeking food, when we have our little run-ins. If I kept a cleaner kitchen, they would just stay to themselves, mostly. So that tells me I have housework to do...not ants to kill.
If you have a store with stuff from india, eatern foods ect. they should have it, Let me look it up. They may have changed names or something. The soap I mean, The oil they sell also at healthfood stores and petsmart, petco even at times.
My sis got some of the soap in an eastern store. Let me look.
Ok here is the products I'm talking about. I found out later, you can buy the oil and put it in shampoos for humans and dogs, and in any lotion you want. It has a very strong sort of coffee smell. If you take a look then you will know what to look for at the Indian stores.
This is a site on ringworm, I know even with athletes foot, it takes many weeks for it to completely go away. Your doc may tell you the same, or give you something internally that is stronger.
