So my husband and I are thinking about getting another dog. This would make #3...!He really wants a bull terrier, and i want whatever i can get (lol). So of course since we have the most expensive taste in dog...it will be a long process that may never happen to get this dog. So now I have been on the quest to at least find a breeder that i like. It is near impossible to find BT breeders nearby. I have found 2 in utah. One of which i will NO WAY get a puppy from. The other I do like, but i am not sure if she is a good breeder, or just a nice person. I have also been looking at out of state breeders that ship, but it is such a scary thing to buy a pup without ever meeting the breeders or seeing the baby first. Any sugestions? We have also looked into BT rescues....but once again, the closest we can find is in CA and only adopt in state. I just know we are going to work on getting our yard fenced first. Then after that is taken care of, as long as i am not huge pregnant, we will look more seriously into the puppy. And that was my ramble for the day!
Fence the yard, but if you are expecting a baby, DO NOT GET A DOG. For some reason, the nesting instinct that people have makes them think they need a new dog/puppy when a baby is on the way, but your human baby will be a 24/7, no-sleep, lifetime commitment to end all commitments, and pets will be a nuisance to you. Wait until the baby is a child, and if you still need a dog, you will have considered the 15 yr. commitment [the dog] that you are going to add to your daily stresses, that the child is going to give you.
I know when I was 3 months pregnant I got a puppy...and boy did I ever baby him. But as soon as Kaitlyn was born he got extremlly jealous of her and would growl and everything at her. He is now with a lady that lives by herself and he is happier than ever. I do feel guilty of getting rid of him but it was for the best. We got Oscar was Kaitlyn was 4 months old...they are so close too. Like best friends. So I would say wait to get a dog until after the baby is born.
HAHAHA....let me just clear us something....I am not pregnant!!!! Sorry, my long rambling totally made it sound like i was. I am not pregnant, i just meant that it is possible that once we get everything taken care of and could get the puppy i could be pregnant, and if i was i would wait on getting the puppy.
Okay, Kittys post totally freaked me out! Lol. I was like, 'Jess??!! When did you get pregnant???! hehe
Well, if you want to look in Colorado, I would happily go check out the pups for you and then bring it up with us next time we go to Idaho/Utah. Course, we aren't going up again until August..don't think you want to wait THAT long. Oh! But my sis-in-law is coming for a visit at the end of May. She lives in Logan and could bring it back...don't ya just love how I volunteer her without asking? lol
Keep checking out the SLC paper, I'm sure a good breeder is bound to show up in there. Bull Terriers are a neat breed.

Hunter you are a genous! That is why i love you! Actually, IF we do decide to get a pup, we most likely wouldn't be ready to get one until aug at the soonest. I don't know if we would even be ready then though. We are actually looking out into the future. We want to get our yard fenced first, then it will be a matter of when we have the extra money(or if we ever have that much extra money). That is why i made the prego comment. If this fall I am pregnant we would have to put puppy on hold until we had money. I am not pregnant, but i am kinda trying to get that way.
Anywho, when are you going to visit me???? You really should. It would be fun....think about it. lol!
I can visit ya in August if you want. That would be neat. Hopefully I can bring Ella so that you can see her. My in-laws aren't too thrilled with me bringing her after she kept having accidents in their house during Christmas. Little goober. She has NEVER had potty issues, not since she was a puppy anyway. But all the people in their house made her nervous I think. Not to mention my little neice is a terror around animals and totally freaked Ella out. They made me keep her in a kennel last time we went up :(
As far as the Bull Terrier, let me know, we come up every few months or so. We're going up in August and again at Christmas, so if you happen to find a breeder in Colorado just let me know. Even if you decided to wait a while, we are always going up there :)

I totally need to meet Ella. I bet my boys would scare her to death though...they are little monsters. Kevin wants us to drive to see my inlaws this summer and take the boys....I am thinking that it would not be a good idea. Between Ivan's excite peeing, and Borris's endless whining they would hate me and the boys by the end of the trip!!!
Where exactically do you live in CO? That would be awesome if we could find a breeder near you. I hate to get too excited about these things in case it never works out....but man oh man i cannot help it! Puppies are so fun!
Lol! Aw, I'm sorry Kitty. I wish I could relate, but I've never had a litter of puppies in the house. Could you burn incence or something? I dunno. I'm not good at this sort of advice, lol
Jess, I live towards the outskirts of a town called Castle Rock. It's about half an hour to an hour from Denver depending on traffic. We go to Denver a lot though because there is NOTHING to do in this town. Walmart and the grocery stores, and that's it, lol. Ella probably would be scared of your boys, she's the biggest wussy. She likes Hunter and my parent's dog, but only because they are the most mellow dogs you would ever see. If a dog tries to play with her ever, she tries to climb up my leg, even if it's another Chihuahua, lol
