Huge scare this morning!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, when I took Sasha and Lilly out to my yard to do their business, Lilly and I were towards the  back yard.  Sasha sitting by the gate because she was done.  This man came by walk two pit mix dogs.  Of course Sasha barked, Lilly ran to the front. By the time I got there a few seconds later, this man (possible american Indian) was laying sprawled on our lawn holding the two leash's with all his strength.  He could not get up with them pulling.  God I was scared. I had picked my two up.  But my fence is not a strong one.  More of just a area cordoned off for mine to play.  They don't try to get out.  A big dog could easily.  Rufus was indoors, now starting to bark all the while this man is on the ground. I am yelling you got it, you got the leash's.

Rufus pushes out of the screen door, it was unlatched.  Now Rufus has never started a fight in his life. But I thought for sure those two would take offence of Rufus coming before them. Both my husband and I yell at him to get in the apartment. He does his I am might walk right before them and I yelled Rufus no and he turned around and went back into the apartment.
I was sooo mad at him at first for coming out.  BUT in hindsight, if he had not done that, that man would not have had a moment to regain control.  In all the craziness Rufus actually saved the day. Whew.  I know I should have secured the door, but it makes me wonder too what would have happened if I had.  Thank god everyone is safe.
That man did not say one word thru the whole thing.  Down on the ground till he walked away.  Perhaps embarrassed.  I would have been yelling at my dogs to stop, then apologize profussely.

Aww man, that IS scary! My dog doesn't like dogs that run up to him when he's on the leash, but thank god he will stay under my control on a walk as far as trying to get at things/animals. When we walk by a fence with a dog in it, we just walk really briskly and I chat with him calmly, and it doesn't give him time to freak out.

So did Rufus walk right up to the dogs and not try to bite them or get bitten himself? That does scare me, because if another dog ran out of someones house and attacked Manson, he would kill it for sure unless it was of reasonable size to defend itself, in which case, there would be a fight and I would need help getting it broken up. It almost happened to us while we were camping in March. Some lady had her JRT offleash in a park with a leash law and lots of leashed dogs and this JRT ran out to the mountain road and attacked any dog walking past. Luckily I saw him coming and grabbed Manson around his chest so that the dog was biting at his stomach and he couldn't retaliate. I was screaming and the owner slowly waddled up and got her dog and did not apologize and gave me nasty looks.

That man needs a couple of prong collars! There is nothing safe about not being in complete control of your dog aggressive dog.

Yes Rufus ran out looked tall, LOL all about 14 inches of his height. and sniffed right a few inches from their noses. Nobody got bit. Truly amazing.  It could have went soooooo much wronger than it had.  I want to tell that guy he needs prong collars.  Those dogs were about 40 lbs each I think. All muscles. Whhhhhoooow scarey.

LOL, if you only knew him.  He is the biggest welcome waggon around.  Always has to say hello.  Very overly sensitive too.
