Bad Child's Toy

This freaked me out and I feel this is important- you might have this toy at home-- watch this video - you'll see a commercial first then Diane Sawyer/ABC News comes right on...click link below:
Anyone who has young children or grandchildren MUST watch this video - it really could save someones life! this is not a joke - please do not delete this without watching it first - it is only 3 minutes long...

I got this e-mail yesterday.  Kaitlyn has lots of magnetix.  As the video says, there is a very prominent warning on the box.  Because of this warning, this is one of the toys in our house that are kept put away so that Kaitlyn can't even reach them.  When she wants to play with them she has to ask me to get them down.  I also put them away for her when she's finished.  I am definitely going to watch closely when I put them away now and make sure there aren't any magnets lying around.  Gillian isn't one to put things in her mouth but there is always a first time for everything.  I also have to watch that the dogs won't get a hold of them now.

Oh my God! WE have the giant mega box of those. AND some of them have come out. We actually thought the little magnets were really cool because they are stronger than any magnet I have ever had. HARD to pull apart. One was stuck on the inside of my dryer and I thought I would never get it off. We have also-- get this-- deliberately put them on our ears and tongue as "earrings." Me, my husband, and both kids have done this. BTW it hurts on the tongue, we discovered, and is hard to get off!

I don't see my kids swallowing one, or especially TWO, because that would almost have to be done on purpose, and my kids are past the swallowing non-food things on purpose stage-- but dang, that's chilling.
Thanks Kitty!

I dunno. Kids do dumb things. Heck, enough to drink and one of you do-dos with the magnet on tongue thing might have fallen victim...I think pets would be special at risk, because they eat little plastic things...
They look harmless enough, but as the interview stated, the magnets are so strong, they often break out of the plastic on their own.
Scary thing is that they are such strong magnets...
If I even kept one problem from an already busy parent, it's worth my time to have crossposted this.
Love you guys, Cheri.

Ha! True enough. Even if one of us HAD swallowed one I would not have known the seriousness of it. I would never have thought about intestines getting pinched closed, would have just figured I'd poop it out cause they're tiny. They are VERY strong. Thanks for posting!

Yeah, not just pinced...it would grind holes in tissue by being on either side of the terribly fragile stuff we are made of...

Wow! Kitty, thank you SO much for posting that! My son is 5 1/2, and I had contemplated getting him those one of these days. I'm weary now. I've never played with them, or seen them out the box, so I had no idea the magnets were that strong. Creepy.
