I have seen a similar situation. When i was training to be a Farrier, we went to one of the Farrier's clients house and they had a totally blind horse. One of the other horses there decided to be the care taker of this old blind horse and would walk next to it touching it so that the blind horse knew where to walk without hitting the fence. The seeing horse would whinny to let the blind one know where he was and what was going on. It was one of the neatest things i have ever seen.
