honet critique of photos please 6 photos

My husband and I went for about a 3 mile walk about a week ago,(well it was 3 miles to where we turned around so I guess 6 miles total) and these are some photos I took while we were walking.  I took more with the 35 mm camera but haven't used the roll yet so they aren't developed yet.  I've changed some into black and white and what not but wanted to see what ya'll thought and if they were any good.   Plus it gives you an insight to the town I live in.

Gorgeous pics & beautiful scenery!  I wish there was a place around me to go for a nice walk like yours!

They are georgous pictures. When I ask for critique I want people to tell me what I can do to make my current shot any better and so that is what I am going to attempt to do with your pictures......

#1. Seems pretty perfect to me. Definitely prefer the color version over the B/W though.

#2. Nice shot, however it is leaning a bit to the right. A key in photography for sceenery pictures is to take the main landscape and use that as your "level", in this case, it would be back by the bridge. Other then that, I like it.

#3. This one I really like. I think, while this picture coud make it perfectly fine on its own, I think it looks a tad better if you crop a little of the right off. Just a little past where the green building ends. This one looks great in both color and sepia, but I am not crazy about the B/W.

It looks like a beautiful town. Very Green!! LOL

Thank you!  There's a rail trail that goes through my town, part of an old railway track i guess, haven't looked into it much.  Plus there's a hundred and some odd bike trail that people bike.  We found out after we started walking the trail that it's three miles between each stop and a stop constitutes a picnic table, a bathroom and a water PUMP  one that you have to manually pump if you know what i'm talking about :)

Katz- I noticed just now looking at the color version of #1 that its a little out of focus   can't tell as much in B&W   #2 we were actually standing on the loading ramp for the boats and what not, might have to go back and get a straighter one now lol    #3 if you notice the color version isn't cropped but the other two are, I do agree that they needed to be cropped after the building.  We're thinking about printing up #3 in the antique coloring to put up in the living room since it's pretty much finished with the remodel just need to put stuff on the walls.....who knows might find some other shots from around here that we like better....I just like the reflections of the buildings in the canal.

Stupid me! I didn't even notice that they were cropped, DEFINITELY like the Sepia crop. That one would look great printed and framed.

I'll agree and say they are all quite beautiful.

#3, I really actually like the color one, cropped like the sepia one, only it's too dang bad that delivery truck is there. It's such a perfect angle, you should go back when it's not there by that stop sign. It's awesome the way it is, but w/o it, it would be 110%, ya know?

Katz knows much more than I do, obviously, with the whole bridge one, but frankly I like the look of it how it is. I like the sort of spatial 'confusion' it portrays, with the bricks leading into the water, the bridge not centered, and the tree reflection in the water.

As for the first, yeah, it's great too ;)

(i meant number 3, not number 2, duh!)

Those looked better in color. The buildings are old, but the color shows that they are loved, upkept and cheery.
I like the water reflections.
The cropping is good on the last one, but use the color.
Very inspiring. Maybe we will go from a pet forum to a pet photo forum.
