He will NOT leave his stitches alone!

Kula got neutered yesterday and finally has a little spring back in his step, but I can't take the towel collar off of him AT ALL or he's right at his stitches.  (He also had a dewclaw removed so that's another spot he's chewing at). He absolutely HATES the collar and looks so sad with it on, but I tried several times today to take it off and he just won't leave them alone.  I hate to think that he's going to have to have this thing on for 10 days until these stitches come out!  Little stinker...

I know - we feel so bad for them but believe me if he is bothering them he is much better off with the collar on.  After an incident I had many years ago with a cat who had been spayed and did not have an e-collar on and I ended up losing her (I'll spare you the details) I err on the side of caution and insist that all of my furpals come home with an e-collar after spaying/neutering.

I guess I was lucky with both my boys. They totally ignored the fact that they even had surgery. All Oscar did was sleep for a few days then he was back to normal. He never once tried to chew at himself. And the lab we had didn't have a care in the world about it.

He wil get used to the cone in a few days.  Males I hear are more into licking thier stitches.  Lilly gets spayed on thursday.  She was supposed to have it done last week but she was not feeling right the night before or early that morning, so I put it off.

Is the licking still going on... you know I have had several animals and have not had any problems with that. Lucky, I guess!

Oh, no don't take it off. If they get infected it will be so much worse. Just let them heal completely. I would chew them too can't leave a zit alone...same deal doggy style. put a good face on it and endure the indignity.
