Ansy, we were in chat and someone came on and was rude and called us nasty names. We couldn't save the conversation but we remember the name. Maybe you could ban it? Let me know.
Good job, oasis. I told Brad about all the names he was calling us and he said we should just do this (sits in the corner on the floor with his coloring book) "now don't come back here until you're finished with your picture". He said that's what he does whenever someone gets to talking nasty like that. I thought it was funny.
Jawlaw and Denise (Poodlemom) are now equipped with ops so that they can ban/boot/kick/gag whatever troublemaker comes in. Also, remember that you have the 'ignore' function. If you ignore someone, you won't be able to see what they are saying.
Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens from time to time on the larger chat servers. We'd all probably think it was a 'local' job, but the truth is - most likely it wasn't. There are just some people who log onto the larger chat servers and hop from room to room trying to agitage people. Sad, but true.
I'm giving everyone about a week to register their names with TalkCity. After that, a new person can still register but will have to wait 1 hour before entering the chat room. Since the chat room is monitored by username and not IP address, it's easy for a banned member to just sign up under a different name and start chatting again. With the hour wait in place, they can still do that, but will have to wait an hour before being allowed to post in our room. This helps deter troublemakers because they want action 'now' and not 'an hour from now'. In extreme circumstances, IP's can be banned but I have to contact TalkCity about that and the final decision is theirs.
You can see a list of the available commands for use in chat by clicking on the help button in the chat room. Some privelages can only be used by moderators, but everyone can use the 'ignore' feature.
Moderators, feel free to ban/gag/kick or whatever ANY troublemaker that comes into that room. I am working on the language filter but haven't got it done yet.
As a last resort, if the problems persists, we can always go back to a free chat server like we had. I will leave that decision up to you guys.
Thanks, Ansy. He was using the most foul language, calling me and oasis a bunch of names and not using a * in the middle. I don't quite recall all the names he called us but they were the most foul names you could call a woman. If you need me to, I will tell you his name and what words I remember him saying, if that will help.
