found a dog yesterday

Yesterday when I was getting into the car to go to work a beautiful white pit bull ran up to me. She was so friendly but Oscar was growling at her through the front window. She had no collar on either so there was no way of me to know where she lived and there wasn't an add in the paper for her either. She was pretty well cared for too. I didn't know what to do about her so I knocked on my neighbors door and they took her because there was no way I was going to let Oscar meet her. My nieghbors are nice and good people. I hope they find the owners if not I think they are going to keep her. Around here if you take a dog to the pound they usually give the dog 3 days before they are PTS. And there is no way I am taking a pit to the pound. She was just too nice to take there. Some people make me so mad. Put a ID tag on your dog. How hard is that? They only cost a few bucks at Petco or Walmart.

I agree Paige.  I find strays around my house all the time with no tags.  It is heartbreaking.  I'm microchipping all of my dogs!

It's possible the dog slipped her collar.  It does happen.  She may also be microchipped.

At any rate, you handled the situation well, finding a safe place for the dog but not creating trouble between the dog and Oscar.  I wish more people would be nice enough to take a couple of minutes to help out loose dogs.  Hopefully, the dog will find a good home, either with her original owners or with your neighbors.

Check for a chip, any vet, or dog breeder, or kennel can do it. It takes a second and they better not charge you...

The owners were found. They live about 8 houses down from me. My neighbors gave them an ear full because the dog didn't have a collar. And we were postive they were the owners because they showed pics of her and she was so happy to see them. Like she hadn't seem them in weeks. So happy ending.

Yay for the happy ending.  With any luck, your neighbors' lecture will convince the owners to purchase a collar for the dog.

I have seen these people before and they let there really young son run around the front yard when I don't even see them in sight. And it drives me crazy because we live on a very busy street, near a fire department, and ambulance place. One of these days I fear that a fire truck is going to come up that hill and run over him. So I really don't feel like they are going to take the time to get their dog a collar.

Glad the owners were found.  Hopefully they were worried & will prevent it from happening again.
