This might be a stupid question, but every since i got Syd at 2 months I noticed her whiskers where short. I thought as she grew her whiskers would get longer, but they havent. The longest whisker is maybe 1/2 an inch. Lana and Winnie both have long ones, triple the length of Syd. When you look at Syd it looks like she doesnt even have any. Dont dogs need long whiskers or is it just cats that do?
My bestfriend knows the family that had Sydney before me,they have children. I asked her if they ever cut her whiskers and she said no, they actually just left Syd,her mom and dad and sister out in the yard all the time.So I wonder if maybe they did cut them or something?
I just thought it was weird. Do your dogs have long whiskers?
When my poodles get groomed they cut off their whiskers and they do grow back. So I think even if the kids had cut them it wouldn't be a problem and they'd grow back.
I was about to say that too my cocker gets shaved down all the time and I never see his wiskers lol. But he has really long eyelashes and I am very particular they do not ever cut those they are soo cute!
An old wives tale was if you cut a dogs wiskers it ruins their sense of smell. But I don't think so.
