Not totally pet related...any ideas?

I know this is off pet topic mainly but i am trying to make a web site for my Russells and i created one using Publisher Pro.  It said i needed an FTP host do i got one.  I tried to upload my pages i created to new FTP page and it keeps giving me an error.  Support at the FTP host says the index.html folder i am supposed to upload to says it's a directory and not a HTML file.  I think i may have accidently deleated the index.html file  What can i do?  I am soooo lost and they havn't responded.  I don't want to pay for hosting if i can't use it.  Any suggestions?

Did you buy a domaine name? Or are you doing a free site? If it is a free site you are looking to build Tripod has the most easily navigatable building tools I have ever found. I have a heck of a time with FTP but I have in the past used Mozilla and it is pretty good actually.

Oasis05, do you have an FTP program? I use WS-FTP95. You can search and download a free trial version if you need. I have my own domain name and use a host that is about $60 per year (including the domain name). If you have free webspace from your server then you don't have to use a host. I use Dreamweaver to build my webpages, but have used MS Frontpage and Netscape to build pages. The only thing I have against Tripod is the popup sidebar. To me it's annoying. How far are you on building your webpages?

You can look at mine here: http://www.kandylandpoodles.com and see what I have done so far. I also built the webpages for our Poodle Club. http://www.columbiapoodleclub.org .

I'll try to help you along if I can, but it's hard to visualize from work when I actually do my web pages from home.

I have publisher pro for making web pages.  I have totally made one and in the program, it says publish to web.  I bought an FTP host and when i try to publish the site i get this error-

Last Command:Uploading file (index.html) to (/home/rdubbe/mainwebsite_html/)

200 Type set to I
227 Entering Passive Mode (66,98,154,89,172,35)
550 index.html: Not a regular file

What's up with that?

What do you mean you bought an FTP host? Do you mean a program that is installed on your computer, or do you mean you're paying a company to host your website

Sorry, more questions. Who is your hosting company and what company makes Publisher Pro? I googled Publisher Pro and there's a ton of them. Do you know if your Publisher Pro has a built in FTP program? The FTP program is what you use to upload your webpage files onto your hosts server. Once on there they can be seen by the public. Here's a link for you. They have info on using an FTP program.
