I think anyone should be allowed to view us.

I think we set a good example for how an intellectual and compassionate forum should operate. It will be nice when the power vaccum that the new rules and mods created on tp, results in this furum taking over the head count that they had.

It is good that you keep tabs on who is allowed to write post

, but if anyone can view, the more the merrier, and the world can, and should, be here with all of the concerns of their various lives.

You know, O, I'm such a Libra, it should be illegal!! LOL I am the most wishy/washy person on the planet, I think. I have some undies that say LIBRA on them and on the butt it says "I can't make up my mind so I want it all" and that is soooooo the truth with me, LOL. Sorry for talking about my undies but I thought they were funny

Anywho, everyone's brought up some really good points here and now that makes my decision even harder, lol

So, I don't know which way I'll go yet, but I'll get there soon, I s'pose.

I'm still trying to figure out a use for the dating one and the humping one and the matrixfight one, lol. But you've used them all!! LOL.

I vote open it up. Its the only way to really get more members. I would never have joined if I wasn't able to read for a few weeks before I joined! I like what I saw and then I joined, but if I wasn't able to just read, I never would have joined. I mean, I don't think it matters THAT much either way--its a great forum as it is, and it will continue to be great if we open it up. Thats my two cents

I agree with that. I can see why you would consider having it be private, but also if you do do that then the likelyhood of this place gaining any new members and flourishing is unlikely.

I can see both sides of everything. But you have to think of this. Being private may actually bring more members. Because they will be so curious on whats going on that they have to sign up to read. I know I am that way. If Ican't read I will find a way to do it. Oh and by the way I am a Taurus.

Before I start let me say I am not saying any of this to make anyone here mad.

The way things have been going lately I don't think it is going to make a difference whether the forum is private or not. Between the TP issue (which I don't think is ever going to go away) and the disagreements between members here which I believe have resulted from the TP issue, any new member who is looking for a dog forum to enjoy themselves at would probably say "Nope, too many issues for me to waste my time! This group spends too much time either fighting with another forum or among themselves".

I have to say I really like each & every one here. I realize I was never on the receiving end of the TP issue. To be honest I was hopeful that this forum could overcome what brought this forum into existence and be a place where all of us could spend alot of relaxing, enjoyable time together. However, I just see things escalating more & more. Each day seems there is another flame erupting.

I for one would love to see it cease. Yes, I realize that this is not a perfect world & there will never be 100% harmony any where but this is getting to the point of being ridiculous. It is really reminding me of highschool where there were clicques and those who went between them. I think there are people who love it when things are always stirred up and I for one am not one of them and I don't think I'm alone in that feeling.

Please, please - would each & every one think long & hard about how you really would prefer to spend your "relaxing" time. I think all of us love to talk about our fupals & families & the world in general. What makes this world so great is the vast diversification between personalities and outlooks on life. My father always used to say that this world would be a pretty boring place if everyone thought the same and I believe he was right. It's the differences in people which makes things interesting as long as we all remember to be respectful of those differences.

Working for a family-owned business which now has 4 adult kids stepping up to the plate & looking to take over with each wanting the #1 position, I listen to enough bickering & wade thru enough tension during my work week that it is the last thing I am looking for in my off-hours. I sincerely want to continue spending alot of time here evenings & weekends getting to know everyone better & watching The Furum grow into the fantastic site I know it has the potential for.

Sorry for rambling on but these are feelings I felt I needed to share. And if anyone took offense or was hurt when I quickly left chat the other nite I am sorry but it was a bad day and I just didn't have what it took for me to listen to more about that particular subject.

Well on the subject. I belong to both private and open forums. The open ones usally get more posters, but given the problems we all are having, it is all of us. We all catch the flack. I say close it. It can be re-opened later. I think people will join, if they have an interest in whats going on here and are hopeful to find a good forum, Signing up takes a minute, thats nothing. The forum I admin on(am one of) had closed the full reading of the forum till they posted 25 times. But what the admin had available to start with and post to was not much, so we all agreed to re-open. We don't have the problems this forum is havingthough.

About all I know is I am a Cancer with a Scorpio rising. Or so I am told. I get along pretty good usually with a Scorpio. OH this is something I just remembered, Dorothy and I were reading about the chinese Zodiac...it said that my husband and I were totally incompatable and that he should never ever marry someone of my sign. LOL imagine that! (forgot what signs we were though) We are a perfect match though.

No but I had a friend that was a Taurus. She was a backstabber though and cheated on her hubby all the time. I never forgave her for a couple of her indiscretions and I guess it ruined our frienship over the long haul. We were friends for a couple of years. I am not a very forgiving person. I have tried working on it but I don't succeed so I usually walk away and just don't speak to the person anymore. And we were good friends for a couple of years like 4 or 5. Life changes...I wont bore you with the details but I found her to be too inconsistent. Fun though loads of fun and very sarcastic and witty. We used to laugh an awful lot and spent loads of money eating out.
