Earth As A Whole


Earth is 3rd planet from the Sun, 92,897,000 miles from the Sun.

Earth is the 5th largest planet almost 2 million square miles.
Water covers 70 % of the surface. 97 % is saltwater, 3% freshwater. This totals 139,668,500 square miles of water.

There are 10 Million Species of life on Earth.
Diameter almost 8,000 miles. 

Antarctica is the coldest recorded place on earth.
Highest Point is Mt Everest 29, 028 above sea level

Earth is fast, about 66,700 miles per hour.
Lowest Land Point Dead Sea 1,302 below sea level

Earth is pumpkin-shaped and getting fatter in the middle as Mountain Glaziers melt. 
Hottest Place recorded El Azizia in Libya recorded a temperature of 136 degrees Fahrenheit.

Highest Mountain is Mount Everest but the Biggest mountain is Mauna Loa in Hawaii. 
Coldest Place recorded -129 Fahrenheit (-89 Celsius) at Vostok, Antarctica,

Deepest place in the Ocean is Marianas Trench in Marianas Islands, the bottom is 35,813 ft or about 7 miles and is called Challenger Deep.
Wettest place is Cherrapunji at an average of 1270 cms per year.

Biggest River is the Amazon 3,903miles and some say 4,195miles long. It provides 20% of the freshwater into the Ocean!
Antarctica is 90% of the total ice on Earth

Nile River in Africa is reported to be between 3,437mi to 4,180miles long.
The Driest place on Earth is Atacama desert along the coast of Chile, South America. Some places have not received rainfall in 400 years. Average overall is .01 cm per year.

Thickest Ice is the shores of Wilkes Land in Antarctica at about 3 miles thick. 
Deepest cave is in Salzburg, Austria called "Lamprechtsofen-Vogelshacht" and it is 5,354 feet deep and they are still exploring it.

There are 5 oceans on Earth. Pacific, Indian, Artic, Southern, Atlantic.

Those were very interesting. I think though we all need to go measure the Nile and Amazon. Just to get an accurate measure.
