Tootsie

When I got Tootsie about 18 yrs ago at 8 wks old she was the tinest kitten I had ever brought home.  She never seemed to grow.  At a yr old she was still very, very tiny.  She was the most affectionate cat except when company came she would go & hide - I think it was because of her small size.  When she was about 2 the vet agreed to spay her.  When I went to pick her up they said they didn't make e-collars small enough for her but they knew how strongly I felt about her having one so the vet tech made up one for her using xray film, staples & surgical tape.

My sweetie is now very senile & very fat.  She has gotten very forgetful and sometimes thinks the litter box is for sleeping in.  When she started acting like this I brought her to the vet for a complete work up to make sure there wasn't a medical issue that needed attention.  It just boiled down to the fact that she is geriatric.  In an effort to save my carpets & furniture (which she decided made excellent litter boxes) she now lives in the laundry room, complete with 2 different beds.  She is quite content & happy and she gets lots of visits for lovings.

I know each day is bringing me closer to losing my sweet Tootsie but we enjoy each day we have.  Here is a pic of my sweetie.

Awwww!!!!! Thats sad. She is old though. My cat that lived at my moms died last year. He was 15 years old. He was going blind but he could still hear fine. His name was Kat.

And when you talk about her size reminds me of my mothers cat. Her name is LuLu and she is 3 years old with the body of a 3 month old. Very strange. We have know idea why she never grew.

I can relate to your story...I had Heath...for almost 18 years...I got him when I was in school...and this thing was no special cat. A barn kitten actually...But just tabby...He lived a good life and then When I was like 30 or so he began to rake his teeth on the tip of his tail...he would lay...flick it and rake his teeth on it...At the time I had brand new WHITE furniture...and I cant tell you how many times I got up to find blood all over...I soon began covering the furniture with sheets...I took him to the vet...They said he probably had ear mites on the tail...BS...he did not have mites. And they put the collar on him so tight it rubbed all the hair off of him...So...I took it off...with vet permission mind you...again. He was back to the tail...I found a cat specialist and took him there...They said to give him more attention...I told them I couldn’t give MORE...I was off work with a problem pregnancy...and all he got was attention...so...that wasn’t it...Then they said to put him in solitary...I left...feeling befuddled...and then realised. I had 2 cats...what about the other one...So. I called back. They said the only option was to remove the tail...So...The next moring. I went to go down stairs and every step was saturated in blood...So I called and made the appointment...They didn’t have a reason why he was mutilating himself...just that he was doing it...So...some 1000.00 later I had my cat with a docked tail and I thought it was all over...then he began to go down hill...really fast...and I called and got him in to be put to sleep...All his functions were shutting down...He was a good old boy...He played too rough at times but a good cat for me...and he stayed with me through every transition in my life...school...single living...and then married with baby...he was special to me...I now have had Persians and Himalayans and they are my particular cat of choice now…But I still remember fondly my friend…Heath…
