why so many people don't have health insurance. They are the biggest pains in the behind. I just needed to get that off of my chest. I have been on the phone arguing with them all morning and I'm just over it.

I hate health insurance companies. Right now since hubby is on disablity we can only afford for Kaitlyn to have insurance and the cheapest we found was with Unicare. It is 78 a month and that does not include dental.
Paige I'm not even going to mention how much I pay a month for health insurance. It's outrageous. Let's just say its over a thousand a month. My baby was born with a health issue called hemangiomas. She had 14 external and 9 on her liver. She is 20 months old now and doing wonderfully. However, when she was 4 and a half months old we had surgery to remove the one above her eye that was causing her to go blind. I am still fighting with the ins. company to pay for this surgery. We paid for all of this out of pocket. All of her medication, doctor visits, specialist visits, etc on top of what we were paying for health insurance. The insurance company won't pay a dime. This is the worst part. They will not pay for her surgery because they said it was "simply cosmetic." I said, first of all there's nothing "simple" about surgery on a 4 month old and it was not cosmetic. After I have gone through this for over a year now the lady on the phone this morning actually had the nerve to tell me she couldn't believe I was vain enough to do cosmetic surgery on 4 month old infant. A plastic surgeon did perform the surgery and removal but I can assure you this was far from cosmetic. I have had it. We have a scheduled court date as of an hour ago. I am not calling them or doing anything else. I am over it.

never mind I read this wrong. we were complaining about insurance companies not the members. I can write a lot about insurance companies because I deal with them on a daily baisis in my job. They are petty. I call and they tell me they are processing a claim. I'll call back a week later about the same claim and I'll get someone else and they say they never recieved a claim. Its funny we can always tell when it is getting close to an insurance companies fiscal year end because they start denying like crazy saying members need to update their insurance information and most patients don't take the time to update this info right away so the insurance companies can put off paying the claims. Its a very frustrating business.
We FINALLY got health ins. and it's like $160.00 a month. That's not so bad but the stupid copays are $20.00 each visit and the perscriptions are expensive. Paige, have you looked into Kids Kare or access? If i qualified for Kids Kare, i'd have it in a second! We are just over the limit
Oh, I really don't want to get into health insurance...being self employed...we get screwed and it doesn't even feel good, lol. I really try to keep my humor when it come to insurance..but it is really hard.
Oasis, we have Chips here in TX. I have looked into it but you can only use certain doctors. And I love Kaitlyns doctor. he is so good with kids. And he only accepts certain insurance providers and Chips is not one of them. I think if I was to use that program I would have to drive 40 minutes to a decent doctor. We used to be with blue cross blue shield and we were paying about 350 a month for just Brad and Kaitlyn. I have never been on insurance since I turned 18. Good thing I am healthy. In about a year or less we will be able to afford all the doctor and dental care I need. I only go to the dentist twice a year. One is for x-rays and cleaning and the other is cleaning. Glad I got perfect teeth. I have only had one cavity and that was when I was 12.
And Zoe, I am sorry to here about your daughter. I know how hard that must be for you. You must be a very strong woman. I don't know wha I would do if something happened to Kaitlyn.
Paige I never realized how strong I was until any of this happened. It was an unbelievable nightmare. It's mostly over. She only has about 5 left on her liver. 4 have gone. The rest are shrinking. A long way from the liver transplant we were told she would need at 6 days old. I can't say I don't get depressed because I do but I try and tried to be as optimistic as possible.
My older daughter who is 6 is Kaitlyn also.
I hope it's very soon that you can afford good insurance for all you.
Julie-My husband owns a computer contracting company. Since it is contractors we don't offer health insurance through the company either which is why our insurance costs so much. They just don't give us self employed people a break. I am very grateful to be out of NJ now. I think its a lot here and than I remember paying 2100 a month over there.
