I will be adding an additional chat moderator in the coming days. Denise and Jawlaw have done an excellent job, but I want to add another so that we have more of a chance of a moderator being online during more hours of the day. So far there have been no major problems in chat, but as the member base grows and other TC members come into the room, you never know when action will be needed.
If you would like to volunteer to be a Chat Moderator just drop me a PM. I think everyone here is suited and the decision will not be a 'personal' one so if you volunteer and don't get picked, please don't send the lynch mob after me...lol.
My main deciding factor will be the amount of time the person spends on The Furum and in chat. Some of our members never go into chat so it wouldn't be a good idea to have one of them as a moderator. I will let everyone know by Tuesday, maybe sooner.
I urge you (if you are interested in this) to go to the Rules thread and read the rules that is required of a chat moderator. Make sure they are something you can abide by if a situation arises. Mainly, the part about any issues someone has with you being able to be addressed on the board so that we can all learn from the situation. So far all the mods have been great about that and I appreciate their time and work here tremendously.
Being a moderator is not hard as far as computers go. I will set you up with everything you need and Denise and Jawlaw can help as well if you feel lost. Don't let the fact that you feel you are not computer literate keep you from doing something you may want to do. The hardest pert of being a moderator is dealing with the people you have to correct. Sometimes it's not pretty, but sometimes people are very understanding that they made a mistake and can accept it and learn from it.
The job of a chat moderator is to keep harmony in the chat room and welcome new chatters. You have to walk a fine line and not let personal feelings play a role in your decisions. We are human, and make mistakes too sometimes, but in the end a chat moderator is what makes chatting a great place for everyone to converse and share ideas, stories, and feelings.
I have a couple of people in mind that I think would be great for this, but I wont put them on the spot. I'd rather wait and see who all volunteers (if anyone...lol) and make my final decision then.
I know that Im new here and all that but, I do volunteer for the mod job. As you know, I call it like it is and have no problem stepping up when need be. Let me know if I can be of assistance. My name says it all.
Standing for the truth, justice and the American way,
The Watcher

I would give some serious consideration to the Watcher as a moderator, he is extremely computer savvy, has plenty of time on his hands (just kidding Watch) and he has past experience on other forums as both moderator and site administrator. Just my opinion but I think he would be a good choice.
I have made a decision and we will actually have 2 new chat moderators. I believe they are both more than fair and both spend a great deal of time in chat during different hours of the day.
There will be a total of 5 chat mods now, but I believe with the availability and ease in which a troll can enter the chat room that this will be a good number to help keep things running smoothly.
As soon as I confirm with the two members, I will make the announcment. Thank you to ALL of you who volunteered. I appreciate the support from each and every one of you.
Once I return to work next month, I will probably add another since I wont be on as much, so if you weren't choses this time around, don't fret, I may just have plans for yuo later on.
I think Oasis will give this place a much needed breath of fresh air due to the fact that she did not come here from TP. She is very neutral and fair and I'm so happy to have her on board as a chat moderator.
Molliemae has always been fair IMO, and always adds zest and flavor to any chat conversation. For those of you who have chatted with her you'll know what I mean when I say....this time...she 'got it'...lol
Thanks to both of you (and everyone else) for volunteering to put yourself in 'harms way'...lol
As for the others, as I said before.....I willl be adding another when I return to work next month.
LOL, Ansy!! I think everyone will "get it" when you said that, lol. Thanks for the compliments!! I really have a lot of fun here and look forward to being a fair and just and FUN chat mod. I hope everyone will be as fair and just to me as I will be to them. I'd just like to thank my family, my husband Brad, who, without his help, I was still able to become chat mod. I would also like to thank Mollie Mae, for which I would not have my awesome name, and Chopper Dean, who adds the flavor to my life. And, finally the fans.......without you, none of this would be possible. How's that for cheesey acceptance speach?? LOL
I'm sorry that you are offended by my choices, however, as business owners yourselves, I would think you would understand the theory of not promoting an 'employee' who has not proven themsleves yet in the 'company'.
Until about 2 weeks ago there were no men on this board, to my knowledge, other than Grim Reaper (which would not be a good choice for a chat moderator for many reasons - the main one being that he has never even been into chat). Out of 70+ members, I believe we have 4 men. One of which I have known for a while and seen his behavior and feel he would be more than fair, however, I do not believe he is interested in moderating the chat room or the forum.
I do not 'promote' people ( if thats what you call it) due to their gender. I believe the successful way to run any place is by advancing the people who you have witnessed and know they would be beneficial to your 'company'.
Over the next 4 months, this site is going to undergo an HUGE development process and the decisions I make now will ultimately affect the future of this website. I cannot base such an important endeaver on ones gender. Speaking of this development, which I have said nothing about, is the main reasons I want the issues here regarding TP to slow down considerably.
140,000 hits in 2 and a half months has caught the attention of many people. Even if those hits are repeat hits, it still increases your ranking in the search engines which is what advertisers look for.
I will be spending several thousand dollars on this site in the coming months, and am hoping it becomes one of the top rated pet related sites on the internet. I make decisions based on what is best for this site, not personal feelings.
I would hope that one could appreciate the money I am spending here, without one single penny coming from anywhere other than my pocket, and not find issues with the choices I make.
If this site reaches top notch level on the internet, it will be the members of this forum who have stuck with me from the beginning that will benefit. I have already promised free advertising to each of them.
I am working on making PROJECT: Saved Lives a National Registry for which each member will officially be commended for their efforts in saving the life of an adopted pet. It takes months to do these things.
I am working with some of the top online Pet Medication Suppliers to try and work out a plan to give discounts to our members who order their pets medications online.
I have alot going on here......that no one knows about, but it is to benefit us all. Please quit picking me apart over the pettiest of subjects so that I can have more time to complete the things I need to do in order to get this site where it needs to be.
I am disappointed that you would even post that - saying that I am unfair because I didn't choose a man. Any business owner would know WHY I didn't pick you. Would you make me manager of your (assumed as an example) all male company if I showed up and said "Hey! I'm a woman - promote me!". I don't think you would. It's bad business.
Please take what I have said with a grain of salt. When you start paying the bills on this place, then you can make some decisions as well. Until then, again, I am very disappointed in the fact that you said that about me. I thought you and I had a better 'understanding' than that.
Wow, Ansy...that explains why the "other" forum is so nervous and trying to make you look bad. This explains a lot. Good Luck with everything... and I am sure everyone is willing to help in allowing things to calm down now!
to suggest that you do ansy is an insult to say the least and completly unfair. Both TnT and Watcher have only been members for approx a week. As much as I like you both I would be concerned if Ansy made two new members moderators.
Also I am wondering who the picture is of that you posted watcher? Was that a joke or are you seriously implying this person is a particular person? This is the link attached to your posted picture..... https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/watcher2005/gina.bmp
Is this in fact Gina? And if so how do you know that?

I may be completely wrong in this so please excuse me if i am but.....i believe TinT and The Watcher were teasing. Maybe not and if not, ansy is correct in saying we were chosen because we fit. Mollie and I do not have a life....lol.....so we are in chat a lot. I believe that was a BIG factor in the choice. If you were teasing boys, please give us 'ditsy' women an 'lol' or smiley so we know for sure. Thanks
I am actually on Chat and the Board more then anyone and she didn't even pick me because honestly I have not been here that long. I respect her decision. I hope they were joking.
