So last week i took the dogs into the vet to update their shots....and i happened to ask them about if they had any puppies that needed to be adopted(big mistake). They told me they had a b&t coonhound puppy (3 months) that had been abandoned because she has cherry eye, and was schedualed to be pts on sat if no one adopted her. So i said..."DON'T YOU DARE! Call me if no one adopts her. So friday rolls around and they called me to say that no one adopted her....so my DH and i went and got her on sat morning. They cut us a great deal, and they fixed both her eyes, spayed her, and gave her all her shots for $275! So now we are fostering her until we can find her a great home. She is soooo sweet! As soon as i can I will post pictures of her.
p.s. I miss you all....I swear i will get my comp set up soon so that i can be a furum junkie again! Take Care!
Nah, your heart is in the right place, charge an adoption fee if you get the chance and recoup the money you spent. Most people know spaying is $200. So, a trained nuetered, excellent dog like you will have should fetch back a little cash. It is best to charge a fee. People that get something for free do not think twice about throwing it away. If a portion of the adoption fee is refundable, if the relationship sours, they will bring the dog to you for rehoming, instead of leaving it on a road somewhere. You
That was a very sweet thing to do, Jess! Best of luck finding him a wonderful forever home!
Hey Kitty, I have never paid any money for any of my dogs-- well, not initially. Missy, Penny, and Manson were all given to me by my best friend. And Shadow/Bosco was given to me by Pits and his original owner, Jazzy. Missy turned out to be the most expensive free dog ever, and worth every cent. But maybe that's different because they already knew a good bit about me and the way I care for my dogs, not the same as a stranger answering an ad...
