I just took a few pics, Brad wanted me to take a bunch of pictures of light fixtures, so I only had a few pics on the digital camera left for the rest of the house. Enjoy!!
I know everything looks really empty, there's not much in those rooms right now. The ppl that own the house live in Indiana and only come to this house every once in a while, to visit family and friends. We guess that the house is at least 100 years old, judging from the woodwork and the servants' stairs and the electrical wiring. I will take some more pics the next time we go there, and post them here for everyone to see. I am just so excited for this place, I can hardly stand it!! I need to take pics of the ENORMOUS backyard. We own the whole "alleyway", so it goes back 264 feet!! The dogs will love it!!
Very nice. I just love the entry way into the dining room. I have a thing for the older houses. I feel like they have more personality to them. Like crown molding, I just have to have it.

What is that thing on the wall above the chair in the kitchen? BTW, I really dig that chair!!!!! I'd be giddy too if I were moving into that. I LOVE old houses!!! Now I'll sit and await the next set of pics...lol. can't wait to see more!"
No kidding!! We'll not be so afraid to have a party at that house 'cuz it's so dang HUGE!!! I don't know if they're going to leave any of the things in the dining room or not. I don't play the piano, and neither does Brad, so I hope they don't leave that!! LOL. Really, all we asked for them to leave is the refrigerator (because ours won't fit under those cupboards where theirs is) and there's a dresser in the bathroom that we want. Hopefully they'll at least leave those two things!! The thing on the wall above the chair is the doorbell. Isn't it neat?? I love that chair too!! There's like 10 cool old chairs in that house and I really would like them all, but won't dare ask for them. I love old houses too, but the only thing I don't like is that I'm gonna have to get used to all the creaks and groans and the fact that it's prolly a century or so old, makes me hope that we don't have any "unwelcome housemates" if you know what I mean!! I can't wait till we get the house!! That's probably gonna be when I take the rest of the pics and post them here for you to drool over!! lol. I had taken some of the bedrooms and the bathroom, but I thought everyone would rather see the kitchen and living and dining rooms better, since there's stuff in those. I'm glad you enjoyed them!!
Love your house.I'd take an old home over a new one anyday, such character. That chair in the kitchen...I was watching some antique show and some brought a chair very similar to be appraised and it was appraised at 35 thousand!!!!!Do the back legs flare out? I can remember the name of it. Have fun decorating and fixing up that place.
I love old houses too! They are so much warmer and more personalized then the new ones. Rooms are bigger and there is so much more character. I grew up in a house that is about 175 years old! So i know all the "perks" as well lol. You new house looks great! I just cant wait to see more pitures! It makes me want to go buy a house LOL
Congrats on the house..when do you take possession of it? I really love the wood work..And the entry way to dining room..I have a new home ..and I love it too..but some thing about the style and character of old wood..Great going..
Thanks for all the compliments!! I'm so ready to move in right now!! The only thing I'm not looking forward to is redoing the floors and the windows and the sun porch. This is a pic of what the lead paint looks like right now in the sun porch:
Y'all can come over anytime you want!! I'm home during the day, so I'd like the company!! lol. Just lemme know when you're planning on coming over ok?? We take possession of it in mid-May. Hopefully on the 13th, which is a Friday, the lady that's buying our house takes possession of it on May 16th, so that would give us the weekend to move and get this house cleaned up for her.
well the paint on the sunporch (first pic) looks like a crackle finish, I like it myself...lol the lime green would. be something I would like on a sunporch or a buttery yellow.Im so in love with your house.I WANT IT!!! What state are you in?A house like that here in cali would cost about 300 thousand. or better
I'm in Iowa and we got it for $60k. It was listed at $70k, so we really got a deal, I know. I have a friend that lives in Omaha, and he said a house like that would cost prolly around $200k or more. It made him sick when I told him how much we're paying for it. The paint is prolly as old as the house and has lead in it, so we're definitely going to be redoing that. The entire floor in the sunporch is that same black lead paint so that will be redone. And just about every windowsill in the house has lead in the stain or varnish so that will be redone as well. So we've got a LOT of redoing woodwork for that house. It's all hardwood everywhere, with only 1 bedroom, the 2nd floor hallway, and the "attic", being the only places in the entire house with carpet in them. So, very little vacuuming, but a whole lotta sweeping to do!! Lucky I have my Swiffer Wet Jet, and I'll be needing the Swiffer Dust Mop, and already have the little Swiffer Dusters, I'll be set!!
Yep, if that house were across the street from me, it would go for at least $400,000.00 no lie. I like the green. And people go way out of their way for that old fashioned crackle look.
But the thing about the old fashioned crackle look in the sunporch is that it's lead based paint that is crackling. I know it's like a new thing now to want things to look old, but we have got to get rid of the lead paint. The entire floor is that same black lead paint. The ppl that own the house had their grandkids over and they got sick from eating the paint chips, so they had it tested and turned out that the entire outside (which has been scraped and primed for new paint), the sun porch, and is also on all of the window sills in the house. So, we need to get rid of it. Don't know what colors we're going to paint it, but it needs to be done.
Dallas-I sure hope the house doesn't come with a ghost!!! I'd be outta there so fast, it would make your head spin!! Though I've been told that there's a ghost by a few ppl, from the looks of the picture of the living room stairs that I posted.
