YAY!! I'm glad it's over!! Now I don't have to worry about prom hair for another full year!! I don't really like doing prom hair. But I always have to, there are only 3 of us that work on Saturdays, and no one else will do prom, and I'm the "young-un" so I have to do it. I was soooooo exhausted from doing hair yesterday!! I went in at 8 am and got off at 4:30pm, which is about 4 hours longer than I'm used to working-I only do part-time because of chair availability.
To begin my wonderful day, my 2nd girl was 1/2 hour late for her appointment!! She was supposed to be there at 9 and showed up at 9:30!! I was somewhat irate, considering she had just been in last week to get her practice do done and she asked what time she was supposed to be there and I told her 9. She said she thought it was 9:30 and I told her we don't book on the 1/2 hour, 'cuz we only book 1 hour for styles and I started at 8. DUH!!! It threw off my whole morning. I was 1/2 hour late for EVERYONE until 12:30, when I had one that only took me like 15 min. to do. Trudy, one of the ladies that I work with, had one not even show!! SO STUPID!!! Have they not heard of a courtesy phone call?? That is the biggest thing I hate about doing prom though. The girls get so dumb!! I was never so excited about prom that I forgot everything!! I always had my head on straight and wasn't all that excited to go in the first place.
I had 2 girls not show up for their nails this week. One of them, I had gone in at 10am to do, which is certainly not my normal time to be there, I was doing HER a favor. I got there at 10 till and she called at 5 after, saying that something "just came up" and she wasn't coming. Yeah right. She's done that one before. Then my other nail girl didn't even call!! She just decided she didnt' have the money that day so she wasn't gonna do it!! WELL, COURTESY, PLEASE!!! How long does it take to make a phone call?? Not that damn long!!
It was just a big, ol' mess this year, with no-shows and late people, it really takes its toll on a person!! All that emotion, like this is the most important day of their lives. UGH!! Well, I just felt like sharing how my prom day went. I can still taste hairspray in the back of my mouth and it's not treating me well. Neither are my lungs :(
This is interesting. I never even thought how the hair stylists felt during all of the prom stuff. I knew it was always hectic for the dress stores, restaurants, and limo service, but never even thought about the stylists. Wow. I can't imagine. it would really irk me too if people didn't call. Thats very rude.
No doubt, Ansy!! Not to mention it takes money right outta my paycheck, as I work off commission. If those 2 nail appts. would have shown, I woulda had an extra $50 in my paycheck on Monday. BLEH!!! AAAWWWW!!! You can't forget about us hairstylists, Ansy!! Come on, we're just as important as the dress shops and restaurants- without us, those girls would look like crap!! LOL, jk
You would have cringed if I came to you on prom day. I remember one year I had 3 proms in one month. I never had a up do though. My hair was to my waist and it is extremly thick. I think I have enough hair on my head for three people. You should have seen how many curlers we had to use on my hair. It was something else. My senior year I was nice to my hairdresser and had it cut and thinned before she did it. She made about 150 bucks off of me that day.
