Another hair question Mollie.

Okay where to start? As you know my hair is very thick, about to the middle of my back, and very straight. Well I have been wanting to put more body into it but I don't know where to start. I feel like it is so flat. I wouldn't mind doing big soft curls but I feel like with the amount of hair I have I would have to buy two sets of them. I have even tried using a curling iron but that takes extremly to long to do, but I like the outcome in the end. I thought about going to a stylest tomorrow and getting her to do it, but I could just imagine how long that would take. The last time I did that I had three women curling at the same time. And how would I get the curls to stay longer?

Are you talking about perming?? or just using a curling iron, like getting a style?? These things I need to know!! LOL If you're going for body but don't want a whole lot of curl, and if you're talking about a perm, i'd go with large rods and a body perm. Just say you want a body perm. OptiCurl by Matrix is what we use in the salon for people that don't want tons of curl. Do you have layers?? Layers would help TREMENDOUSLY for body. And they look great with a perm. Yes, I know doing a perm on long hair like yours would cost prolly around $150, but you would only have to do it like once a year. Maybe twice.

My hair is thin and scragly so i have to layer it.  Looks MUCH better.  Right now it is at my shoulders and layered so it flips up when i style it.  It's easy cuz all i do is dry it upside down.....lol  Took a long time to find a style i liked.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I have permed my hair in the past and it never holds. LOL!!! It looks good in the first week but after that you can't even tell it was permed. My hair would be a challenge for you. I do have a few layers but nothing drastic. So maybe I will take a few inches off and put better layers in it and then just use big curlers or curling iron to try to give it some body. The only thing that my hair is good for is coloring. It hold color real good.

Could one reason why my hair doesn't hold curl is because its too soft?

Everyone's hair does better with some layers in it. Some people just don't know how much to do though. That's what I think, anyway. Am always trying to get my mom to let me do layers in her mid back-length blonde hair, but she won't let me. The last time I did it was when I was just finishing learning how to do the hair cuts. So, she's still traumatized by some bad layering that I did when I was first in beauty school. LOL.

I can't perm my hair, it frizes and fries.........lol  Even a professional one.  I can color mine but it only lasts a week or so before it goes blond again.  I try to match my roots so i don't look like a bleach blond and it fades out fast  Oh well.......lol

Oh, Shadow!! I could give you a chunky weave like you wouldn't believe!! I used to have 1" chunks of blonde in my burgundy hair. It was sooo much fun!! I kind of miss it. Right now it's jet black with reddish/fuchsia stripes in it. Isnt' hair color soo much fun?? I am also that hairstylist that doesn't take enough off, when you say 1", I take 1/2", just in case. Then I ask how it looks and they say a lil more off, so then I do the other 1/2". Always have been like that.

Paige- Try using Hot Sets by Redken, or Kenra Thermal Styling Spray. You put it on before you curl, and it helps protect your hair from the heat of the iron, and helps the curls stay. Works wonders!! We use it for every wedding and prom updo style. Should only be $10-$13, I think.

Well I would like alittle under one inch blonde chunks, but i usually come out looking like i dyed it all one color...ugh! I change stylist all the time but im never happy. Just me i guess, like today i go get my nails done and she ask me if i want them shortened and i tell her yes just alittle.omg they barely are sticking out over my fingertips. Like Rodney Dangerfill use to say"CAN'T GET NO RESPECT AROUND HERE"
