Cat Question

Ok I have a random question about cats. So you get a cat and you litterbox train it, and it never has an accidnet, even if the box gets super gross the cat always goes in the box. So if you were to take this cat into your room at night when you go to bed and shut the door so he cant go in or out and cant go use the litterbox because its in another room, would a cat hold it or would a cat just go to the bathroom if it had no access to its litterbox?

I know dogs hold threw the night cause we train them too, but we dont really train cats to go at certain times, we just give them unlimited access to litterboxes. So I'm wondering what would a cat do?

I know sometimes my boyfriend keeps his cats in his room at night and shuts the door. He also has the litterbox on his balcony and sometimes that door is closed and they dont have access to it. Its not all the time, just once in a while. His cats dont have accidents, at least none that i know of. Are all cats like this?

Most people have a real hard time housebreaking cats.
I would imagine that most will go on the floor, or on your bed, for that matter, anytime they feel the urge.
I have an old housecat, but she is my last. I will have only outdoor cats in the future. I am soooo tired of stepping on cat litter, and in cat barf. If it is not one thing, it is another, with cats. Dogs are the same, but worth more money, and live in kennels where it is easier to clean, and poop out in the yard, nowhere near my dinner table...

I have my cat's box out on our back patio. She will sleep in my bedroom and get locked in sometimes all day and she will hold it until we let her out on the patio.

I don't know if all cats are like that, but I have never seen her use it anywhere and it is usually pretty obvious when a cat pees in the house...it is bad!

I did have a problem when we moved about 1 1/2 years ago with her spraying in one bedroom, but I think that was more of a stress related, marking her spot type thing. I had it cleaned and we just keep the door shut in that room so she cannot get in there and we have never had any other problems.
