Hi. I have a 6 month old 10 pound poodle mix puppy. He's getting fixed on Monday. This is my first male dog. Is there anything I should know about recovery/ change of attitude? My females were always out of it for a day or so and then they're back to normal. They're keeping him overnight which is different too, but it's a different vet.
Will the humping stop right away or does it take a while for the hormones to leave his system?
Kula was "fixed" when he was 6 months old. Pretty quick recovery...he was really, really sleepy at first, but back to his old self within a day or so. He's 8 1/2 months old now and will still try to hump an unsuspecting dog here and there, but it's getting better. He's never been a marker, and still squats to pee. The worst part of the whole ordeal was dropping him off and leaving him...broke my heart!!
I had my brittney neutered when he was 5 to 6 months old and he is over 12 now and he still humps...never stoped. He is a good dog other wise...But a humping dog is a great pet pieve of mine..My Maternial Grandmothers boston used to hump the heck out of everything..I could never stand that and have some thing against bostons to this day because of it. I hope the pooch is fit as a fiddle real soon..take care..
