Hey all, meet Chance (he seems to respond better to Chance than Chancy). We're home and all is well. Ricky is trying to entice him into playing, Bandit tried to show him who's boss & Chance showed him just where he stood, and even Pixie is being sweet. This poor guy has obviously been wearing his sweater for quite some time as you can see his farmer's tan just as plain as day. I wrote that his color was a slate and then looked under his shirt and wondered if I wrote the right color.
He is absolutely a sweetheart, but he wants to meet you on his terms. It took all of about 5 min. for him to warm up to me. He didn't want to have anything to do with me until he saw me giving snuggles (and treats) to the other dogs....then he decided I might just be okay. By the time I left the shelter he was begging for me to pick him up. He rode in the crate like a real trooper, not a peep out of him. He only has his canines & molars for teeth, but what he does have look good. He had a dental in April at the time he was taken to PAWS (Parsons Animal Welfare Society). Considering he's spent the last 1.5 to 2 yrs remanded to the outside his skin is in remarkable condition. No acne whatsoever but he does have some blackheads. Nothing major though. As you can see from pics, he's not underfed at all (teeheee, he's trying to hump Ricky at the moment & Ricky's having none of that). As Karen at PAWS said, he appears to be in excellent health. Now we just gotta even out his tan. LOL
When we got home I brought him in he house in the crate and let everyone meet him while he was crated. Then sent everyone outside and let Chance explore on his own for a little bit. We then went out in the front yard for a walk around & potty break. We made a big lap around the perimeter of our yard and at one point Chance was so excited he started to run. I jogged along side him and when he came to a stop he turned around and gave me, I'm not kidding, the sweetest look of love & gratitude and then stood up on his hind legs for me to snuggle him. His tail has not stopped wagging since.
Very Cute Boy [or Old Man] ! I think Cresties are beutiful, and are really unique looking! You said hes your foster pup! I think you may be already attached! I used to foster, that was rewarding but so hard! Its a great thing to do though!

Darn.....figured me out already. Yes, I do get very attached to all my foster kids. This old guy is VERY adoptable and actually he's just about mid-life for a Crestie. He's got the greatest personality and is just a total cuddlebug. As with them all, I bawl my eyes out when they leave, and then I get the first report from their new mommy/daddy, and it makes it all worthwhile.
Aww, what a cutie! I seriously applaud all of you that foster animals....i don't think i could do it, i would get way to attached and wouldn't want to give them up!
your babies are adorable. the russian breeder that i bought my french bulldog from also raises and shows the chinese crested . at first i thought they were the strangest looking dogs i had ever seen ,but the more i see them i realize they are so unique ! and i have grown to love the look. i love the way they almost prance aound the ring in the dog shows. i am curious .do you have to cut the hair or does it grow this way ? their hair looks so soft, almost feathery. i dont know if you can post breeders sites ,but if interested you can p.m me and i,ll give you her site .she has one on there that looks almost identical to your newest one......deb
Well it depends. There are basically 3 kinds of Cresties: True Hairless like Chancy, has just a bit of crest, little to no socks & varying degrees of tail plume; then Hairy Hairless which just means they have varying degrees of body hair. Most CCs that you see in dog shows are Hairy Hairlesses that have been shaved for the smooth body; and then Powderpuffs, which are the fully coated Cresties. I have two puffs (shaved into hairless cuts), and very hairy hairless, also kept in a hairless cut, and now Chancy who is a true hairless. He has a nice tail plum, but little hair on his feet, and a very modest crest. His hair is basically just on the top of his skull, but it is about 4" long (kinda like a bad bald guy wrap around LOL).. If you want to look at some beautiful cresties, do a google search for Camelot Cresteds, Kalypso Cresteds, Nauset Cresteds, Crestars and, of course, the top CC breeder and currently has the #1 CC in the country, Bayshore.
Chance is sitting here on my lap with a front legs on each shoulder and his head tucked under my chin. He is the absolutely sweetest old guy and it breaks my heart to think of people being mean to him. He is a total love bug and if I weren't married, I would have already emailed Crest-Care to let them know this kid is MINE. He is fabulous boy, its obvious he's had some training in his life as he will sit, come, stay, heal, down & up on command. You should have seen him last nite when I game him the WIng-A-Ling, he took one bite, looked up at me with this face that clearly said "I''m in heaven."
He got a face shave and a bath today. What an angel he was too. He really liked the scrubbing with the loofah, but you should have heard him groaning with pleasure when I massaged in his Lubriderm. What a silly boy!!!! This guy (as all of them) deserves the absolute best for his remaining years (which could be as many as 10-12) and I will do everything in my power to make it happen for him.

Well I tell you what, if I had to choose between hubby & Chancy right now, I think Chancy would win hands down. Currently, he is snuggled up in the pile of dirty sheets awaiting their turn in the washer.

I agree with Kittys mom! Chancy will be a new man! Hes buetiful right now though to me !!!You should be proud of yourself! It just kills me that I cant foster anymore! Mia {pictured next to my name!} Put me out of business!!! She is VERY strange dog aggressive-but I have donated money to this really nice no kill shelter! Its like 20 dollars a month-but worth it too me since I cant foster!!! Please keep loving your fosters !! They are very lucky to have you foster them! {If you adopt Chancy-MAKE SURE you make lots of check-up calls!} Thats how I got my Mia back!!! Its good to call though to see how there doing!!
