I read it!! And I've never watched American Idol!! I dont' care, I would've rather had Bo win, just because he's a guy and I usually hate female singers. LOL
I wanted Bo to win because there are already soooo many pretty blonde country singers. Sort of a dime a dozen. How many new rockers do we have. He will succeed though.
Remember this, it isn't always about who is the best. I preferred Carrie because I don't like to return to the dark annals of my memory for the days when all the guys looked like Bo. I also don't like the southern rocker type of performers.
The real deal here is that Carrie won because of the 2001 cocaine and pot arrest of old Bo, can someone have that in their past and truly be an American idol? It is all about image.
Look at the past years of idol:
Year 1: Kelly Clarkson, the reincarnation of Debbie Gibson, a little chunkier with dark hair. Runner-up Justin, can't sing, can't act, proof that the right person won. If you attend a Kelly Clarkson concert it is filled with little girls ages 8 to 11, 12 year olds think she is for the 8 to 11 year olds. Attend anything that Justin is involved with and all you see are ex-cons looking for a prison b-t-h!
Year 2: Big Ruben Studdard edges out Clay Aiken. They had to keep Clay close in case Ruben ate himself to death. Gospel soul is not a big seller anymore. Enough said.
Year 3: Carrie Underwood will be a role model to all girls from the ages of 5 to 11, with it ending once they turn 12. But she will also be eye candy for all of us that walk around with testosterone, red blood and whiskey flowing through our veins.
The truth is in this case, regardless who won they will both make a ton of money and be very successful.

I disagree with your statement about Reuben. His record is very good and has sold quite well in various markets. I did not like the fact he could not win on his own. He won with Clay Aiken and sadly it became a racial issue. They are two very different and talented singers. One isn't "black" and one isn't for "white audiences". However, that is how they were pitted against each other. Sad. Some people are really caught up into what is black music and what is white music. I have no idea how they explain The Beastie Boys and/or Hootie and the Blowfish but whatever.
You also forgot to mention Fantasia. Her album is very very good if you like R&B. If you don't then you wont appreciate it. Bo was a much better singer than Carrie but he wasn't as marketable. They like Carrie because she is well absent the racial issue she is wholesome. They won't have to work on her grammar or her weight and she doesnt have dirty secrets lurking in the shadows. I have purchased Rubeun, Fantasia and Kelly Clarkson. I listened to Clay Aiken but decided to get a Tony Bennet album instead. Music is versatile and so beautiful. Too bad people cannot appreciate it for its quality and see beyond the ethnicity of the person producing the music.
I think the American Idol phenomenon (I can only pray) will go away soon.
