it stands for A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments. we fought against helmut laws .and did mostly charity runs. every year we held a toys for tots run. and gathered toys for the poor and drove them to the state capitol.and we also went on runs ,with food, money, clothes, etc and took them to the battered womens shelters. i had alot of fun when i was in the club. some people just look down on bikers. they are not the bad people make them out to be.
Hey,people hat look down on this ,lack knowledge.I have met some wonderful bikers. There was a day when I felt intimidated, that was before I got to know bikers in general.
You are right, Dusty. I think alot of the negative attention came with some of the movies out of the 70's. Always showed them as the rough and tough fightin' type. Not that there aren't those kind out there, but I think a lot of that came as a result of them always being portrayed that way.
My dad has been a biker for as long as I can remember, funny thing about him is...he wears a suit by day (vice president of a plastics company) golf attire by afternoon, and leather by night or weekends....you get the idea. I have always called him a chameleon!! (sp?)
He custom builds harleys, Russ helps out a lot with that. They are awesome. I am not sure if I have any pics to share...will have to check. I guess he is suppose to be featured in a mag, but I am not sure on the details.
Russ is begging for a Harley, but we are always broke!! lol I would love to go out riding. Use to go out with my dad when younger, now he won't take me....says it makes him look like he cheating on his wife!!!! (joking of course, well, kind of!! lmbo)
H*lls Angels are in the mountain area aren't they . Mostly I think. I have heard of the a.b.a.t.e.. I'm pretty sure they have a chapter out this way.
I Have never met a biker I did not get along with. I never ever had a bike of my own, but had fun on the the back, Um well not that time riding thru a hail storm. Darn that was cold. LOL We have the Chosen Few , The Monguls out here. Last year the Monguls rode in the cops ended up sticking around. I've heard storys, but can't ever be certain if they are true. Best not to say what you hear. Thats the biker way. I went to the C.F club house and had alot of fun.
Bikers do soooo much for so many differrent causes. Hey if any of you ever end up in San Pedro, go to Walkers Cafe. Beer served too. LOL Nice warm day many a bikes come riding thru.
I have heard of A.b.a.t.e. Also..I used to sell great quanaties of meat and specialty items to a few biker clubs associate with them...when they had big doings and fund raisers. I think most are misunderstood and many think of the old hells angels movies when they think of bikers..I have heard horror stories but the first hand experences have all been positive..So...I say what ever floats your boat....if you like bikes..great..and the fact that you help others is fantastic..many more groups should do the same...I have worked with a group when I had a Childrens Leukemia toy drive..in the thumb area...It was made a sucess by a few hospitals and with the biker organization contributing the most..Congrats for doing good in the community...
Its a nice keepsake of years of fun. I've only been on one run, would have been alot more fun had I been single. LOL My hubby now does not have a harley, just a stinkin rice burner. Boy was I embarrassed to be seen on that by any bikers I knew. I plead the 5th. I did not know he even had a bike at all when I met him.
thanx guys ! it is so rewarding to be doing things to help people. especially children. i think the most rewarding was our visits to the battered womens shelters. the children there were forced to leave their homes and most of their belongings behind. and had been subjected to who knows what forms of abuse . and watching your mother get beat is a form of abuse no child should have to go through. they were so excited to see "bikers" lol .they asked endless questions and we would let them sit on the bikes and for awhile they forgot all the drama in their lives. i miss all that and riding together with the group ,but i cant grip anymore so it kind of ended all that. but quinn and i are content to spend our time at home with our kids (four-legged ones included) . i just havent been ready to part with my bike yet. alot of fond memories ! lol
and puttin, dont knock the rice burners ! lol my bike, the one in the pics, is an 1100 honda shadow ! its just been lowered and modified. even has harley pipes. everyone thought it was a harley. and i set off more car alarms then my fellow harley riders. lol
i had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands and still lost all the feeling in my hands and grip strength. and then i met quinn and he is not a rider ,more a sports fanatic. so my bike is parked because i have no pilot ! lol
