I go today and finally have my wrist checked. It aches so bad everyday. I have this nagging feeling though that this may require some sort of surgery. Blah! And I am not one to walk around with a bandage for all to say "Oh, what happened?" I grow quite frustrated with that. But I will be a good girl and do what the doc suggests. Anything to make this feel better!
My appointment is at 3:00. Wish me luck!! lol (Luck? Wish that I don't need surgery!!)
Hey, my birthday is in a week...does that count? lol Yes, I do wish it was that instead!
Well, I know I broke it and it should have been looked at long ago. I am just so thick headed! It is actually my hand right under my wrist. I had broke my other wrist as a kid and my mother never took me to get it checked. That started a long history of my not going to a doctor. I have the "it will heal" mentality. My wrist has a huge lump in it but it never did hurt. My hand is another story. I have been the biggest whiny baby about it and that just isn't me. So off I go! lol
Ouch! Not wanted I wanted to hear! lol I will wait and see what he says. I will be relaly bummed if I have to deal with this forever! I am such a hands on kind of person. I can't keep finger nails because I am not the dainty delicate type. I ship out heavy boxes and move things around. This has really stopped me from my normal routine.
Kitty, are you in the health field, seems you always have good advice.
I am back. I have a cyst. May have to remove it. Wants to see me in 6 weeks. Stupid black brace!!! Like it is going to change in 6 weeks! It has been a year! lol
Well, he offered cortisone shots....what's your opinion on that? I am not that familiar with it.
ick that sucks....a black one? couldn't he have given you one thats not so noticable? i'm sorry for you! i have no clue what cortisone shots are, but hopefully they'll work!
The only time I had a cortisone shot was years ago when I had a really sore shoulder (can't for the life of me remember the medical term for what I had). The shot hurt like heck but it did help relieve the pain. I do know that there is a limit to the number of cortisone shots one can have though within a certain time frame.
Hopefully the cyst will go away & if it doesn't, that it requires only minor surgery. I know I went nuts a couple of years ago when I had carpal tunnel surgery. Luckily it was my left wrist as I am right handed but I soon learned just how much I did use my left hand. But w/i 6 wks I had limited use as long as no weight was involved and I'd say w/i 6 mos. max I had full use of it and the surgery solved the problem.
MMP...I hope that the arm will get better now..i have carbal tunnel in both hands to the elbow and have those black arm braces too...people think im a pro bowler..lol..if they only knew when i did bowl i got a 35...lol..
I had a cyst on my right wrist just under the thumb straight down...i could not use the hand and it really buged me to crochet and write the worse..and back then...we didnt have pc's and in the company we did all the invoices and checks by hand..any way...i had a cortoosone shot in it and it calisfied the cyst and it no longer bothers me...so..i hope that helps with your issue too...I had cortisone in a heel spur when i was on my feet with 3 jobs one being the nursing home kitchen...and it did not work for that..heel spurs are different i guess..i hope it all goes well for you mmp...let us all know how your progressing...Take care
Cortizone shots are only to relieve the pain and they DO work and yes, they do hurt to get one (i have had a few) but they will not last forever. That type of operation should be fine. If you are in a lot of pain, the cortizone shot is a good idea. Good luck.
