question

Okay... My mom wanted me to ask y'all a question. Her new puppy is trying to eat his poop. How do you stop them from doing this. He is 11 weeks old too.

I heard you can put something in their food that will make them not want to eat their poop, i think pineapple juice or something, i dont remember, perhaps someone here will.

I may have been misinformed but i heard that puppies eat their poo when they are lacking in some kind of nutrient.  Maybe she needs to try a different food.

I also thought it might be his food. She told me that he was eating Iams but I told her to try a different food becuase I would never feed Oscar Iams. But I don't know what she should feed a Boston Terrier. I only know giant breed dog food ideas.

I've heard that food passes thru the digestive system pretty fast and not everything always gets digested, so things still smell edible to them. I have also heard they are doing what their mamma's used to do to clean up the poop, eat it. Also heard the nutritional lacking thing too. I am not sure, though whats right. I give mine very good kibble. Carrots at times, and that may not digest so Lilly may want that. She loves her veggies.

There is a product called Deter, which I started her on, but it seemed like she was really staining alot more on her eyes, so I stopped usuing it. Best way, pick it up right after they go.  Mine will run around the yard with a poop in her mouth trying to play keep away from my husband. She listens to me much better. LOL

We never had trouble with Lola eating her poo, but she did get some stinky gas.  That was when she was on Purina Puppy chow or something like that.  We switched over to the Nutra Max Puppy chow and she's not stinky anymore!!!
