went to the reba concert last night. it was awesome. terri clarke opened up the show. she was great. brad paisley came on next. what can i say about him? fabulous and totally handsome ! and reba was stunning. they closed the show with the duet "does he love you" by terri and reba, with brad playing back-up guitar. it was called "the two hats and a redhead tour". the concert was in the whiteriver amphitheater. we all sat on the lawn until the sprinkles turned to downpour .then we ran for cover and sat in the covered seating area for the rest of the show. if you ever get a chance to see any of these people live ,then do it. they were all worth the bumpy eight mile shuttle bus ride back to our cars. brookes and dunn and big and rich are comming there in october and i am definately not going to miss that one either ! lol
Big and Rich were here last night and I am thankful the show is over. I was so tierd of seeing their commercial on TV. Sorry for sounding so anticountry, but personally I don't consider them country. But Reba is country and same with George Strait.
I'm really out of place in this thread! LOL But years ago I went to a Reba show she's great! I also saw Garth Brooks! Let me tell you no one can beat a Garth brooks concert! I was so out of place in both! Just think me who listens to ol school hip hop in a country concert! Yeah all my friends thought I had totally lost it then! LOL
I love country music!! Don't care much for Reba, but George Strait is my favorite and Brad Paisley's a close 2nd. Garth is one of the faves but not right there on top anymore. Just can't be one of the top ones since he doesn't do music anymore. I saw George Strait when I was like 10 and it was awesome!! I also saw Brad Paisley at the Clay County Fair last September and it was the best!! We had like 6" of rain that day and the whole grandstand area was all muddy and yucky, so much so that they couldn't bring out their instruments, so Brad just sang there with his guitar and it was soooooo cool!! Just him and his guitar, kinda like on the movie Pure Country!! Chris Cagle opened up for him too and he was great as well. They both were so awesome!! They both felt really bad about not having the concert go as planned with instruments and all, so Brad said he's coming back this summer to redo the concert!! I'm soooo going again!! w00t for Brad Paisley!!
Speaking of Country Music, today is the last day of the Country Music Festival (formerly known as Fan Fiar) here in Nashville. The rain has kept alot of locals away, but there are people from all over the world here. It's amazing to see how far people will come for something like this. We also have Bonnaroo going on, but it's about an hour and a half from here. Yesterday they found some guy dead there.
Those two events are about as far from each other as you can get on the music spectrum....lol, but they are held the same 4 days each June.
George Strait is my favorite too, but I've never seen him in concert. Garth was the best I'd seen in concert. My husbands side of the family (his father and grandfather) played bass for most all of the bigger country names and they played the Grand Ole Opry for years so my house is plastered with lots of country music stuff...lol. We have several gold and platinum albums that were my father in laws which I just cherish. I never got to meet him. He died of cancer before I came into the family. I would have loved to talked with him about the life he experienced while playing with all those musicians.
For some reason, my husband never took an interest in country music. He writes more for television and the gaming industry. He is working on an instrumental CD that he'll have mastered soon. It's nothing he is going to market. he just wants a few copies. If any of you are familiar with Pachbel then you'll know his song 'Canon'. Tht is one of my favorite songs. I marched to that song in my wedding...lol. I liked it better than the Wedding March! Hubby revised Canon with a drum beat and it is beautiful. he also revised the Moonlight Sonada and Fur Elise. Those are the only un-original works that will beo n his CD, everything else was written by him. When he gets it done, I'll try to get it on the net so you can hear it.
I don't know why I just went into all of this.....lol. I love music but can't play a lick. it's just one of those things I love talking about. I am an art lover and music is a form of art and espression. Music is also wonderful 'free' therapy.....lol
Anyway, back on topic......I would really enjoy seeing Reba in concert. She is a wonderful artist and I love everything she sings. 'Fancy' is my favorite song of hers. Gives me chills.
Don't be fooled though.....lol....I have Eminem and 50 Cent in my CD collection as well!!
BTW Stormy, I'm a fan of old school rock as well. The 80's are my favs!!!! Great music back then.
