My neighbor wants to help try to slowly get Mia more social and more accepting of strange dogs! She knows tons about Pits and Staff breeds, and the first day Mia unfortunatly went after Timber! He is a Staffordshire Terrier. Today Mia FINALLY sniffed him over and then she just sat ! I was so happy! And happy to have a dog and dog owner in my neighborhood that is so understanding! Timber is a very submissive boy! Timbers owner says "Too SUBMISSIVE!!" For example my little hellian Holly the pug wanted to hang from Timbers face !! Now from looking at these two dogs you would think Timber would be all tough! But no! Timber just went to the ground all scared!!!!!!! I love Timber, and Timbers Mom said "it dosnt help if Im praising Timber so much! And also petting him so much in front of my Mia and Holly! ' But anyways- does it sound like Mia may have some hope?????
yes. it sounds like she is learning pretty quick. its good that you have a caring and patient neighbor that is willing to help. my neighbor on one side loves animals but the one on the other side would have a coronary if she saw a pitbull.or any dog that resembled one. she calls our gsd, cujo. heck he is 10 years old and loves everyone and everything.not a mean bone in his body. so its great that your neighbor isnt like mine. good luck with the training.it sounds like she is doing fine.
Yes I am very lucky to have a neighbor that would like to help Mia, {and me for that matter!} I informed her of Mia's "aggression problum", as soon as we met, for there dogs safety! I think Timber could probably defend himself-if needed, but some people think that Mia is fine with all dogs if they see big Mia romping around with the Pugs-or walking down the street! Some people will just let there dogs come way to close if I don't say anything! Or if Mias growling dosnt scare them off! Sometimes other dog owners just think all dogs are friendly, and would like to meet other dogs!
Anyways-We will try it again {hopefully} tomorrow! I will post any updates if it goes even better next time! This was a huge step for her in a positive direction!! Im proud and just had to brag! LOL!
