We will be picking him up tomorrow, but the owner sent us a photo so we could see him. His name is Tuff (cause, he's so 'tough' lookin...lol) Can't wait to see how tough he is when he faints!!!
Um. Make sure he faints before you shell out the big bucks for him. He is nice looking. When your husband is not in so much of a hurry, get one with pretty spots...a girl. Are you gonna breed him to your other goat and sell expensive fainting goats?
His name does seem to fit him by his looks! I bet he has a really sweet personality. How old is he? Do you plan on having many more of them? I have seen a couple of short clips on TV of them fainting over the years & it is funny altho in some ways I have always felt sorry for them. I just tend to wonder how they feel about it - are they actually scared or are they totally unaware of what is happening. I guess I'm just a big softie
KM, this man had 4 black/white bucks last week. He sent me pics of them and they were so cute. We weren't able to go down to get them last week and he sold them all... I wanted a black/white one so bad.......BUT......this man has over 200 goats so we will get another one......in fact, maybe a few more.
We are getting Tuff so that Hector has someone to play with and then after we build them a little barn, we will get more. I do plan to breed them once I get a doe. This will also give me more time to learn about them. I've been reading alot and trying to learn all I can. They are facinating little creatures - the first animals that humans domesticated.
By next spring I'd like to have 2 bucks and a few does (besides Hector)......and then I can give hubby his goat farmer license...lol
Ultimately, we will have our pet goats, and some will be sold. My father is a butcher and always has people wanting goats. He has 4 people wanting them now for the 4th of July. He told me yesterday though, that he doesn't see him ever being able to buy one of our goats for slaughter....lol....because we get too attached to our animals! So we'll see....I may end up like Mother Goose here........and just be known as the 'goat lady on the hill' to the community...lol
It's about 80 miles to the goat farm......so I gotta go get ready! We're SO excited about getting him! Can't wait to see how the dogs react when they see him!
