What do I do??

Somehow Lexie managed to get her ear ripped. Right at the very tip of her left ear, there's a 1/2" rip in it. I don't know if it goes all the way through, but it was bleeding a lot on the floor. We got a rag on her ear to try and stop it and there was kind of a lot of blood on the floor by the time we'd figured out what had happened. My guess is that Chopper did it accidentally while they were playing. My question is what do I do about it?? I don't think it's bleeding anymore, but I don't want it to get infected or to reopen up or anything. I took a couple pics of it, one from the top side and one from the bottom side of her ear:

Can I put super glue on it or something?? Something just to get me by for a couple days?? Remember, I live in a small town in the middle of Iowa farmland, so it's not like i've got an e-vet or anything. Shiny!!! Help me!! What did you do for Manson when he and Bosco got into a fight??

I think I'll just super glue it. It stopped bleeding for a while, but then it opened back up and started bleeding again. Super glue seems to work well for people, I agree MPP. I think I'll just go for that, even though we live right by the store, that liquid bandaid stuff is expensive and it does pretty much the same thing as super glue. Thanks for your help, guys!!

No super glue. Its not the same stuff doctors use.  I was watching t.v , some reality show, well the main person on the show was a drummer, and he told his doc he used super glue on his finger and the doc told him not too, its toxic.  See if you can dry it up shave enough of the area to put a bandage on it, maybe a butterfly bandage. Use some neosporin on it, an e-colllar so's he can't get the bandage off.  At least until you can have it look at.

Have you looked very close at in to see if it is sliced or just scratched?

I already put the super glue on it. It's cut just a little bit on the tip and more on the top than the bottom. It's opened up 3 times now since I put the super glue on it. I don't have an e collar, nor will I have access to one till Tuesday. They don't have them at Wal-Mart, nor do they have them at any of the other discount stores in the area or either of the pet stores. **Remember, I live in a small town in rural Iowa. lol. I will just leave the super glue on it that I put on earlier, and just leave it alone till Tuesday.

Dip it in iodine and leave it alone.
Screwing around with it is sure to get it infected.
W/O a stitch or two that ear may stay split.
Got any friends that are doctors?

Hows he doing today?  As soon as you can, get e-collars to fit all of your dogs, you never ever know when you will need one. My dog Rufus is using his now, he has the itchies from a food change. Changing back to Innova with him now. Wonder what a doc would say if you brought him to an clinic. Maybe see if you could get a nurse to stitch it.

She's doing ok today. It doesn't seem to bother her at all. I think it kind of stung a lil bit when I initially put the super glue on it. Since then (yesterday) she hasn't given it a second thought. It re opened a few times yesterday and once in the night, she got blood spots all over the couch!! lol. But she's doing fine now, hasn't reopened at all today. Thanks for all your concern and help.

Mollie, I was on vacation and just saw your thread. I hope your puppy is doing okay!

When I was a kid, my dad was trying to cut out the matted fur on our Golden Retriever's ears and he cut his ear a tad. He cleaned it out with peroxide and then put super glue over it like a lot of the other member's are mentioning. It healed really well. I hope your baby gets well soon!

Thanks Hunter. I was talking to a gal I know and she told me that when this same thing happened to her dalmatian, she took him to the vet and he told her that she could either have him put super glue on it for $30 or she could just go buy a tube of it for .99, it was her choice, lol. She went with doing it herself. It opened up again a little bit today, but wasn't dripping blood like it was the day before yesterday. It's just got a little super glue and dried blood on it, I'm sure it'll heal fine. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help!!
