Seafood and dogs ...

Is it o.k to give dogs cooked seafood .. i love sea food and often have to much left after cooking an would like to give it to Harvey if its o.k rather than throw it away.. i love mussles and always get greedy an buy an cook to many are they o.k to feed to him without the sauce  before i add the cream, wine an garlic etc*yum*

.. i was asking because im not to sure about it an would rather o.k it 1st . I was also wondering as Harvey is on a Hypoallergenic dry food and thought it could benefit him epsecially oily fish like mackeral which is high in omega3..

Canned mackerel and salmon, despite the salt content, is a major source of calcium w/vitamin D.

Sasha loves crab, but I have never tried mussles on her. I have a great recipe for mussles if interested.

Oh, I feed canned mackerel all the time, esp. to growing pups, and pregnant dogs....
The dogs love it, I don't feed it as often as I'd like to because it makes the whole house smell like fish.
It is pretty much the only suppliment you can give a dog w/vit.D. The pure vit. D, like humans take, is toxic to them, just like tylenol, and chocolate.

i sometimes pour the tuna juice (the packed in water kind) on my shepherds food. he loves it. although i dont give him the tuna. i have given him cooked cod and halibut. he loves it. the frenchies do too, but they will eat anything. they are food pigs .

We feed mackeral and tuna juice (dang that sounds nasty) to our dogs as well.  They have never had a problem with it.  I can't see mussels hurting them.  Its just like giving them a fillet of meat (no bones).

Ive given all my girls shrimp, on special occasions!  And tonite I gave them a little bit of tuna in there dry  kibble!  They kinda liked it, but would rather have fat-free chicken broth or eggs!!  Neither of my girls finished it!!  Guess whos going to the store to get some fat-free chicken broth tomorrow!

yeah thats true .. but his is usually sweet smelling considering the areas he licks also i brush his teeth to keep his breath nice.. our only problem is his farts  .. the other day he was lying down an he was licking his bum and he farted right in his own face and smelled it ... YUCK ... i nearly fainted with the smell and laughter ... he is sooo goofy!
