A bittersweet day :(

Well, many of you knew that we had decided to rehome Kenai, our Pomeranian. Well, yesterday, Kenai went to his new home. He is going to belong to a teenager named Jessica. He is going to live on 20 acres and he gets to chase horses with their border collie. He will get to sleep in Jessica's bed and basically get spoiled rotten and get all of the attention that he wants and deserves. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I had to decide whether I wanted to keep Kenai because he was happy or because I wanted to keep him. After a very long time of discussing it, we (my husband and I) decided that he truly wasn't happy. Kenai was constantly trampled on by Koda and Kaia and the silly dog never thought to get out from under their feet. lol

Kenai also suffered from seperation anxiety and because I have two very young kids, two other dogs, three cats (one of which is a special needs cat) and I am also starting my own business. Kenai just didn't get all the attention that he so desperatly wanted.

So, although I am having a hard time not having my baby with me, I do know that it was the right thing to do. I just miss him alot though. Koda and Kaia will be happier too. Kenai and Kaia didn't really get along that well. I think I am going to take the dogs to the lake, just to spoil them a little bit. I need to spoil the dogs I have to help me get over missing him.

They did promise to keep us updated on him and send pictures, so I will update everyone, as often as I get updates.

What you did is what everyone who has pets should do - make decisions based upon what is the best choice for their furpal & not themselves.  I know as much as you will miss him you will find joy in knowing that he has a loving home where he will gets lots of spoiling & great care!

its hard to rehome a pet. you did what you felt was best for the dog. some people just drop them at a shelter.it sounds like you found him a very loving home and although it takes time. he will adjust and so will you. its sounds like he will be very happy in his new home. knowing that, you should be at peace knowing you did what you felt was going to be in his best interest in the long run.

Thank you. It has been a pretty depressing day just not having him around but I will feel better when I hear that he is doing good. I haven't heard from them yet. Hopefully soon. Thanks for all the support.

I know how you feel my mother and me gave her dog to my uncle about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It broke my heart and trinity's when he left but it had to be done.

I know how you feel. It took alot for me to give Pugs Lee to the Ohio Pug Rescue.  I still miss her terribly. Poor thing.

I have sent them numerous emails and I am quite surprised they don't answer them. I sure would like to know how she is. Where she is....etc.

You will slowly feel better about it, but you will always have that spot in your heart!!
