So is anyone else on a diet for the summer??? I gotta look good in my swimsuit...lol...anyways when you guys diet what do you do? do you exercise? if so what kind of exercise? Just curious as to what others do to loose weight.
About 2 years ago I lost 85 pounds by running, towards the end I ran 6 miles a day. Since then i have gained 15 pounds and I am running agian to keep it off and im on a strict diet. Its only been a week but I can see a big differnece already.
I always exercise. I do something everyday. I couldn't get through the day without it. Its my free, stress relief time. I don't usually diet. I exercise so much that I can pretty much eat whatever I want and not gain weight. Well at the spa this weekend, I ate so much and was so lazy that I gained 5 pds.! That shows how much, long, and hard, I workout because I go 4 days without it and I gain 5 pds. I do kickboxing 3 days a week, I swim 1 day, and I do step 2 days. I also do weight training 3-4 days a week. I have started low-carbing for the next couple of weeks to get this 5 pds. off. Its the easiest for me and the fastest.

i cycle and walk with Harvey.. i lost alot of weight pretty steadily and it helps to keep me trim i'm a healthy 9 and a half stone which is ideal for my height and i dont want to go slimmer as i like my curves.. I have never dieted just balance what i eat ..if i pigged out on something very fatty then the rest of the week its eat low fat .. I always feel 'hungry' though and i have always been like that ... i have never liked to eat just 3 meals a day .. i more of a nibbler .. seafood and low cal seafood sauce is something i always snack on as their is zero fat in them.. and cottage cheese which i love and I always have bottle water beside me which i sip at .. an just refill when i'm done.
I'm kinda obsessed with my weight. In High School, I was super super tiny...and then I had kids, lol. But after having two kids, I gained 20 pounds and lost it all on the Atkins diet. I would not, however, recommend Atkins. It does what it's suppose to do, but not in a healthy way I don't think. It made me so sick. And from eating the eggs and fish all the time, now I can't even stand to smell either without throwing up. It's WAY too limited. And when your body goes into that ketosis (sp?) thing, it freaks it out and makes you super tired and moody. And when I went off the diet, I gained 10 pounds. But I also stopped working out because I was burned out, so that could have been the reason for the gain too.
I'm the same way in that, as long as I exercise, I can eat whatever and not gain weight. But if I don't work out, then I gain weight. If you're going to do any diet at all, I would just recommend a calorie diet. I think you can google to find out how many you're suppose to restict them to based on your age, height and current weight. I just know you're not suppose to go under 1300 a day no matter what. Because then at that point, your body just starts to deplete your muscle. There is a good site for counting calories: http://www.calorie-count.com/ It has everything in it, even fast food. When I did it after Atkins to lose that 10 pounds, I just didn't go over 1400 calories a day. A typical day would be like oatmeal for breakfast, yogart and apple for a snack, chicken noodle soup for lunch, and then whatever I was making for the family for dinner, but I would count every single calorie in the ingredients and portion mine out so I wouldn't go over my daily calories. I would also only drink water throughout the day and drink one cup of green tea everyday (green tea speeds up your metabolism). But I just would make sure I ate healthy foods like fruits, veggies, wheat breads, etc and just counted the calories on all of them.
As for exercise, it's pretty old (you may be able to find it on ebay) but I do the Kathy Ireland Total Fitness Workout video. She did it after she had kids, and I think that it is the best way to tone muscles (especially the mid part of your body and upper thighs). I personally think it works even better than Winsor Pilates and such. But the thing with her video, is you HAVE to do it exactly how she says or you won't feel a thing. The thing she says about squeezing your bum and having your shoulders back and stomach tucked in REALLY makes a difference in the workout. The first time I did the workout, it didn't do a thing for me. But when I really listened to what she was saying, and it was soooooooo hard, lol. But I alternate doing that one day, and then riding my exercise bike for half an hour the next day and just keep switching off.
Another thing that might help kickstart your metabolism before you start a diet is a fruit fast. You do it for just 3 days. But all you can have is fruit and veggies for 3 days. You can have fruit juice, but it has to say 100% juice on the label. You can't have canned food. But the nice thing is that you can have as much as you want. Whenever you feel hungry, eat a fruit or veggie. So you're not limited on how much you can have. It gets old, but I noticed that it really helped me and it cleans out your system. I try to do a fruit fast once a year. Sorry this is so long!

What I am doing now is exercising on the treadmill for 90 minutes a day every morning, I burn about 600 or so calories. For food I eat cereal, and for dinner I have chicken and broccoli. I dont starve myself I just eat now only when i am hungry and I dont eat until I'm full.I also stopped snacking unless im hungry and it isnt time for dinner, i might have a light snack.
yeah the worst thing you can do is starve yourself .. you leave your body wondering when your next meal is .. so when you finally do eat it stores it in fat for a type of self preservation tactic.. i wen through a unpleasant stage in my life an took it out on my body ... i exercised myself to the point of collapsing and ate low fat yoghurts only .. i looked like a skeleton .. once i realised what i was doing i stopped but i started eating properly and the weight piled on .. but now ive lost it an at that healthy weight .. lot of hard work though
I lost 15 pounds one month just eating 1500 calories a day and doing the treadmill. I also lifted really light weights too. I really need to go back on the healthy eating thing. Before I had Kaitlyn I was super skinny but after being pregnant my body just isn't the same.
I'm on a diet this summer because I want to look good in my bathing suit next year. LOL. Well I excercise by jogging, lifting weights, and riding my bike. Also I have limited how much I will eat such as not filling by plate. Also eating slower so I can tell when I get full sooner.
Yeah thats a great tip about chewing the food as it gived time for the brain to tel you when you arre full .. my major annoyance is i have IBS (irritable Bowel Syndrome) so i have a real limited diet ..many things make me pretty ill
