True tuna but either way if I was out of the county or state  Iwould still see trintiy cause I told my mother that I don't give a rats behind if she came and visited me just send my dog or cat. LOL. Thanksgiving is reserved for trinity and christmas is reserved for tabatha my cat. But that was only if I left the county or state but thats not going to happen so I don't have to worry about it.

You'll get a nice bonus at the end to look forward to, plus you have to stay on their campus and they provide everything so you don't really need money anyway.

Good Luck!

Thanks and yea they said that it would be best to get a part time job while we are at the school so we can save up our money. The istructor said that he has seen kids leave there with about 10 or 15 k. But thats if they have a part time job cause if you have a part time job they automaticely put 75% of your paycheck into savings so you on't spend it and you will have enough to get a place of your own.

Ok writing from my sisters mouth...

every 2 weeks base pay is $18, then in addition you could get $50 at phase 3, less for phase 1 or 2. Its how well you do in school, dorm, trade. You have to complete all chores your room everyday, make bed, garbage empied, locker locked, swept floor, opened curtins during day, etc.

One chore each day, like cleaning living room, or laundry room. Chores change weekly.

School you have perfect attendance. Once you get there you have to stay there for 30 days.

After you pick your trade you do one week of school then your trade for 1 week.

If you have your GED then you don't have to go to school. If you do then you can go right to your trade.

bonus is called re-adjustment. Everytime you get paid, whatever the amount is, atleast the 18 but hopefully plus the 50. they match half of whatever you make and it goes into a seperate account for your readjustment when you graduate.

after 30 days they'll pay for you a ticket for bus or plane to go home for a visit. If you don't go back you lose all the readjustment money. Phone calls def not first week. You get a 10 min phone call. Have someone send you a calling card or bring one with you.

You can sign up to go on trips to walmart, or movies after you get paid. You pay job corps the $1 and they cover the rest.

You get 3 meals a day in the cafateria.  They should have a store there where you can buy cigerettes if you smoke. You have to smoke outside.

They do roll call in the morning like 6am. They do one after class around 4pm, if you aren't there you get marked AWOL and they will take stuff away so besure you're there and not a second late.

Your curfew is 9pm on weekdays and 10 or 11 on weekends. If you are going into a boys dorm there are visiting hours. Don't ever get caught breaking rules. You can't even use the boys bathrooms. You will egt written up.

They will take points away which ='s MONEY!!!! The only thing thats not free is cigerettes and junk food.

You can have your family/friends can send you anything at anytime. She said make sure you take a radio!!!! It's very boring!!!

One bathroom shared by 4 people.

She said the first 30 days is hell. After you get to know people and know where things are. Just think about the money at the end. My sister got $3000 and she was there for 8 months.

If you don't have your licence then they will help you get that too.

STAY FOCUSED ON THE MONEY AT THE END!!!!!!!!!@!!

Alot of that is true but there are some things that are wrong.

Such as:

You are there for 60 days before starting any kind of class.

Even if you have your GED/HSD you still have to take academic classes.

With the phone thing at the location I am going to they allow cell phones and there is no time limit on the public phone.

The trips you go on you don't pay anything they are free.

The curfew is 9pm and ligths out are at 10pm. On the weekends there is no curfew because alot of people go to see there family if there family lives near by.

Also any money that is there for us to go home is not taken away. On holidays and during the small summer break and after you graduate they pay for you to go home with no cost to you.

When you graduate it depends on what you do in job core on how much money you come home with. If you are getting your GED/HSD, Drivers Licences, and your trade you will get about 1200 dollars not including the taxs that will be taken out. If you don't need to get you GED/HSD and Drivers licences because you already have them then you get less when you leave. But people have left with close to 10-15k because they say that it would be best to get a part time job while you are at job core so you can start saving money to your own place. If you have a part-time job then everytime you get your paycheck then 75% of your check will go in to a savings account you can't touch till you leave. Nikkispnce I'm not gripping at you I'm just correcting what your sister said.

She's not wrong. What she said is what it was where she was at the time. She was there in 1996, so nobody really even had cell phones then. Also she was in the mountains in Red Rock near the Poconos so they had to live in the dorms, no town near to live in. Obviously things have changed a lot in 9 years. Thats good for you. Just like the military pays change over the years but thats what it was when she was there. Just giving you her info. So no need to correct her she was just saying how it was when she was there. Obviously things change. Good Luck!

Oh also, she didn't say the money for you to go home would be taken away. She said it's a points system and if you don't follow the rules you lose points which makes you get paid less money. you get the $18 regardless but you can make more if you follow the rules and do your best.

Sorry had to edit again. You're right she did say you'd lose the money at the end if you left before the time you have to stay for her 30 days for you I guess 60 days if you leave you get none of the money. But, I have no clue about the part time job thing because she did not have that option. There were no places nearby they could work. So you should ask them about that. If you leave early will you lose the money.

Puttin there is an oriantation you can take your son too. Its about 3 days long if you want. They told me that during any time during the oranitation if you decided that this is not for you you can get up and leave with no questions asked. You might want to take him to this and see what he thinks about it.
