Wanting to add a herding dog to our family.....

With the addition of our goats, we are wanting to add a herding dog to our family.  The only experience I have ever had with a herding dog was a border collie that I grew up with as a child.  He was the most wonderful dog I have ever been around. 


I do not like Australian Cattle Dogs / Australian Shepherds....just don't like the look of them, and was wondering what other types of herding dogs would be good around kids (maybe they all are)?  I have read a little on the Great Pyrenee's and the border collies......but what else is out there?  I want to research everything before we make a choice.

yeah, like that sheep dog from the cartoons who is always catching the wolf. lol, i think his name is fred.  just kidding.  how many goats do u have, ansy? Goat

Thank you SO much for that link Dusty!!   Lots of info there!  And tuna, we currently have 5 goats (1 fainter, 3 Boers and 1 dumb ass).  We are hoping to add about 4 more in a few months.
