I'll try to find a link to the story, but our local news just reported that BSL did in fact pass the first reading with a unanimous vote. It will be presented for a second vote next week. If it passes that reading, it will be placed into law. This bill includes pits and many other breeds of dogs.
Already existing dogs will be grandfathered in with a clause. If any have puppies, they (the owners) will have to get rid of them by 6 weeks of age and then get their pet altered.
Several TN cities have already passed laws forbidding residents to own pits.
Looks like they are pretty serious about this. Just wanted to post this as info for those of you interested. When I get the link, I'll post it.
oh boy here we go..........even more proof that our country is going to dirt.....ok ok ok i love the usa BUT people are stupid LOL
yeah looks like theres a Stupid people epidemic there at the moment. Seems like its spread over the waters to the u.k...its only time before this law rears its ugly head in the u.k
well if anyone came to take my dogs they WILL get some buckshot in the butts !!my frenchies are on that rediculous list. i have never had more loving , mild mannered dogs than these two. i think the BSL stands for butt sucking leeches !!
Here is the link.....I was wrong, its not a County, its a city in TN....about 2 hours from me. Sumner Country, however, (which it mentions) is just one county over. Scary. I've heard talk about all of this, but didn't realize it was happening all over the country. I thought it was localized to certain areas.
Unfortunatley, with all of this publicity, it looks like its going to be hard to stop this now.
It's individual city council members that vote these ridiculous law proposals into effect. It's against the law for States to prohibit owning a specific breed of dog.
I tell dog loving people what we all need to do. We have the power to vote these council members out of office. Once these people have been replaced by more humanitarian type individuals, petition to have these barbaric laws over-turned. I'm telling you, there's more dog loving people in the general population than non-loving dog people. That means more votes for the right law-makers and more signatures on petitions to throw out stupid laws.
It just makes you wonder. They say they are attempting BSL because of the dangerous dogs and people who don't know how to handle them. Whats next? Cars? Will they outlaw dangerous cars (V8's, large engines, fast cars) because people can't handle them as well?
