I take Hyde and the girls out everyday, but since Hyde came I have found it easier to leave with them threw the backyard gate. Hyde has actually never come threw the front of the house.
Lastnight I was thinking maybe this isnt a good idea? Maybe I should start taking him in and out threw the front door? I'm thinking this cause if he ever got out and came back home, would he recognize the front of the house since he always comes and goes threw the backyard gate?
Am i being paranoid? Im just scared if he never goes in thrw the front he wouldnt know what it looks like and wouldnt know to come to the door.
From what I have heard and read about dogs, they are more acute in their smells than sight. So I would kind of think that if a dog was lost and was trying to find their way home, they would follow their scent trail rather than looking at their surroundings. I have no idea though. I think you will be fine with the gate. Especially if you are doing it everytime, Hyde is getting used to this particular pattern, so he will actually know his way better.

They do use their noses alot. But I'm not certain, if it would be a problem. With Rufus he either goes straight to the front or back door, or to the yard. With Lilly when I walk out of the yard and she runs around the building she goes straight for the back door. Sasha would bolt off to the nearest tree. LOL But if you feel it would be helpful use both entries. I do.
