i dont know if they work on dogs like they do people. if they do, you might want to keep her outside for awhile afterwards though. and have that sprinkler handy !  lol

lol dusty ..i gave Harvey a small amount of vegetables once (before i knew better) and there was the biggest puddle of poo ever..its was a hard job scraping that of the grass

As for prunes they may work but it wont take as much for dogs as for people . Dogs have a shorter digestive tract than humans so it will go through them alot faster...(like the vegetables  incident above)

LOL so true I was planing on giving her the prunies outside and then leaving her outside all day long. I just hope it doesn't take that long. I have never had this problem with a dog being backed up so I figured prunies would do the trick. LOL

michael used to spread human poop on the fields (and the smell would knock you out)

it used to make me think what im actually eating

..They used to call it 'Night soil'..apparently gardeners used to use it for their flower beds...must have been a messy job collecting it

I just thought that since it worked for humans it might work for dogs. Its the only think I know of. I did get her to eat some food today by putting moist cat food in her bowl. I know i shouldn't have but its the only thing she would eat and i had to give her liquid wormer and she wouldn't eat it unless I out the cat food in it.

my dogs are the opposite. they are food pigs. they eat anything and everything. i was told if they have runny eyes, to give them tums. it neutralizes the ph in their systems. i give them each a half of tums once in awhile. they love them. i guess they think they are candy. but so far i havent found anything that they dont like. i had to give annie a worm pill and she just ate it plain right out of my hand.  yuk ! lol

Harvey is a food hog and a dream when it comes to giving worming pills etc. I have tried the liquid wormer but i find it just runs everywhere and most of it ends up on the carpet and i never know if he has had the correct dose or not, When giving pills i open Harveys mouth wide , put the pill on the back of his tongue and hold his muzzel closed and upwards whilst very gently stroking his throat (which encourages him to swallow) and then give him a treat. when i was bringing him up i was always sticking my fingers in his mouth and checking his teeth etc so he got used to it from a early age and never shows any resistance.

canned pumpkin is given to dogs to help with loose stools

Treating Indigestion and Diarrhea:

If a dog gets the runs, treat with canned pumpkin, mashed potatoes or plain vanilla yogurt. Feed him as much as he cares to eat to replenish needed nutrients. Rice, or rice with some lean hamburger, is another good choice. Add some yogurt if you can, since yogurt helps calm upset stomachs. Canned pumpkin is especially helpful if the dog's stools are loose.

I remember back when my son was just a week old or so, he got stopped up, so doc said put prune juice mixed with water in his bottle. Boy he liked that and it sure did the trick.
