im a bit concerned

I just found something in the yard that worries me. It was poop, but it was a bright off white color, but it looked like dried foam in the shape of poop. I dont know which dog did it, and i think i saw another smaller pile on the other side of the yard. Winnie didnt eat breakfast this morning which is unusual, so maybe it came from her? anyways I took a couple pictures of it cause it was just so weird my explanation cant do it justice. So its kind of gross, if you dont want to see it dont scroll down.

If anyone has any insight as to what this might be I would appreciate it, and should I be worried?I've never seen anything like this!

It looks like poop but it kind of looks like one of the dogs threw it up. They might have gotten into something they shouldn't have. That you know of have they gotten into anything they haven't had before. It also kind of looks like it might just be something moldy. It looks like it could be a number of things. I don't really know what to tell you. MAybe take a sample to your vet and see if they can tell you something.

There is nothing that I know of that she got into or any of the dogs actually. Another weird thing was yesterday I came home from work around 4, the dogs were outside and i brought them in, about 5 minutes later one of them threw up, i dont know who it was but i think it was Syd cause she was the only one in the room and she was standing over it. I have been working for the past two days and my boyfriend has been watching them. I think he needs to keep a closer eye on them. This weird poop looking thing has me worried though.

Yea he needs to keep a closer eye on them. About the trowing up I haerd that when dogs eat grass it makes them throw up. They might be eating grass and that might be the reason for one of them throwing up. I would be worried to if I saw that in my back yard and figured it came from my dogs. I have never seen anything like that. It almost looks moldy.

It looks more like vomit.. to me.... Mine will lick frogs/toads and foam vomit after.. similar to the look.

The long shape does have me thrown a bit though~~

( I checked with the Doc. he said it was the frogs/toad urine that makes them foam... not toxic.. just yuky tasting)

I never knew frog/toads were toxic to dogs. Are they for real. If so what about snakes? Also if its vomit about it reminds you of what your dogs did Ivy maybe they were moving while vomiting. I know when trintiy eats grass and vomits she sometimes walks.

it looks more like vomit to me. they were probably throwing up and backing up while they were doing it. i would try to find out what your boyfriend has been feeding the dogs. they could have gotten into something too. just keep a close eye on them and tell your boyfriend to also watch them closely. see if you notice any changes in their appetites or energy. a dog will eat grass if they have upset tummies, but it doesnt cause white vomit or stools. you could talk to the vet where you work and tell him or show him the pic and see what he thinks. he would know more than any of us here what to do. hopefully it isnt anything serious.

I asked my boyfriend if any of the dogs got into anything and if he gave them anything besides dog food and he said no. I showed him to poop/vomit thing and he says he bets its fungus, but ive never seen a fungus like that one! I do have mushrooms that grow on the grass but they never turned into this thing in the picture.Im gonna show my vet a pic but its sunday and they arnt open. Im gonna keep a close eye on Winnie, she didnt eat breakfast, if she doesnt eat dinner I'll take her into work first thing tomorow morning. Thanks everyone!

Syd,

LTLGTO has the address where you can email a vet and ask her questions.  He gave it to me once to ask some things about Piper.  I got a quick response (within a day).  I don't remember the address, but maybe you can ask him?  He probably wont see the thread here so you may want to post to him over at TP and try to contact him that way.  You could send these pics to the vet and see what she has to say.  I agree that it looks like vomit.  It may be nothing more than some stomach acids......especially if its really hot where you are right now, but I'd try to get that vets addy just for curiosity's sake.

PD, toads are very toxic to dogs, my gsd i had a year ago tried to eat one, and unfortunately he died soon after, at the time i had no idea they were toxic either..the dog starts to shake and have a seizure because of the poison, and theres nothing you can do fast enough to save them i guess..
