I know you are right Puttin, BUT it just feels SO,SO ,SO wrong to me. Yes , Holly will be able to get her surgery WAY sooner though. If I agree to bring her to Tenneessee. I have to call in the A.M to find out the soonest time. I just spoke to Diana and I think its going to be sometime this upcoming week-OMG< I know its the best that for Holly, that is what I have to focus on. But I know how much Holly loves me , she follows me everywhere, even when I go pee! Im not kidding! Even when I go get the laundry from the basement she waits at the top of the stairs for me to come back up!! She won't ever let me out of her sight! I don't even usually need a leash because she just walks at my heels when we take walks. But if we do use a leash and someone else walks her, even my kids, she will still walk at MY side, or at my HEELS!! If I stop, she stops. If I cross the road, she insists she cross the road. She is my little shadow forsure! I just think it will be bad if Im not there for her as well. She really is attached to me so much, as much as I am to her, if not more! That is my only concern. I just worry if Im not there when she wakes up that she might give up! I know that sounds selfish but its true, I truely believe me and my childrens love and prayers have kept Holly this long, Im scared to let her off with a stranger. Holly dosnt like strangers AT ALL!!!! She wont even let someone she dosnt know pet her! I dont like this very much at all!!!
I know how you feel, haing to let Sasha get spayed just broke my heart. Being she is from a shelter. Alls I could think was she thought I was abandoning her. But dogs are very resilient. they do bounce back, get accustomed to whats going on at that time. Holly has been to the vet before. If she has spent the night before, she found out that momma came back to get her. Maybe you could even get someone to put the phone up to her ear. I don't know. Actually once she is going thru everything, they will have her anestisized, then perhaps pain killers. People checking on her all the time. I really think she will be ok. They do surgerys all the time, and know how to handle things. Call whenever you can for check ups. She is fortunate to be able to have this second chance. I'd go for it.
Only 2 or 3 times she has been away a whole night from me in her whole life. Plans changed yesterday, its even a worse plan. With some nice womans help from the Midatlantic Pug Rescue, she asked her vet {who has also done shunt surgereries, sevral successful surgeries on shunts I was told.} He will do it for the funds we have collected. But Holly will have to get put on an airplane. Im going right now to bring Holly to her vets to get a quick examination for a medical certifcate. Im so scared this will be the last time I see her. I have to go, Ill let you know what happens. Holly will be leaving between this Sunday and this coming tuesday. It will be very short notice. Not good, I am a basket case now. Just thought I would let you know.
Be postive. This is good news you know. She needs to start feeling like she should, as soon as possible. You don't want to wait until she has another episode. Remember how distressed you were. So worried you may need to put her down. Keep a stiff upper lip young lady. Do what your baby needs. You are sooo fortunate to have found the vet that will do it for the moneys you have now. That is great.... Let us know how things go!!!!!!!!
I know I need to be happy about this! I will try not to think so negitively, because it is the best thing for HER, and I shouldnt be selfish. Its going to be one of the hardest things Ive ever done though. This lady at the local Pug meetup group in the Twin Cities said maybe we should just try to wait longer. She said she knows we could do it! But she said she would support me either way, 100%. That was nice. I appreciate everyones support, and I think its best that she just has it done right away before she gets really sick again. Thanks Puttin!
Exactly, I wouldn't want to have any of my dogs go thru another episode like the one you explained. Besides Holly going thru trama, so does your whole family watching helplessly.
Again thank you Puttin! Just wanted to let you know if you want to get a free sketch of your favorite poodle you are eligible after your very kind donation! Just email a pic to dubois@amaonline.com . A very nice lady {Kara} from the Canadian Pugs Forum is doing free sketches of pets with a donation for Holly! So also tell anybody you think that might be interested!
I would love too, I had a computer meltdown over the weekend, so I will have to wait till I have all my pictures put on here. Too bad she can't do two in one picture. I really would like to have one done.
I will check and see If she would make an acception with you ! Im sure she will have plenty to do, so just hang on to the links, and when your ready then you could send it later! Ill go ask now.
Puttin whenever you are ready to send a pic of all your furkids, just email Kara {the artist} and write a brief note stating your name and she said she would do one off all of yours! She is very nice, and so are you ! Thanks again June. Oh and for a little update, I got a little glimmer of hope at someone offering to loan me $1000.00 as long as I pay it off in a year!! So this is very exciting, but I have to try one more avenue {at the Loaners request} This lady hopes to keep Holly in Minnesota with us as well!! I must try first so we will see. If the other avenue will take too long, I would go with the loan. So save Karas Email address, and whenever you are ready, email her a pic and a note with your name ok!
I talked to Dr Anderson on Thursday, and I paid for her anti seisure med, he mailed it to me and I will get that either today or Monday! I brought Holly in for a full blood work up today, its called a CDC I think, and I prepaid a urinalisis which I think will be tricky to collect, but I will try to get a fresh sample on Monday to them. Holly is doing good right now, and she will need to take that anti seisure drug for 2-3 weeks prior to surgery. W only have 200.00 -500.00 to save up and I think it will be possible! But its getting closer, and I am excited! The vet that did the Blood work said she looked good, other then being on the skinny side! A little bit of wax in her left ear, but no infection!
Hollys surgery will be in Minnesota. I did sign a contract and that nice lady from a Pug Group here is loaning me 1000.00, which I have a year to pay off! Im very relieved that Holly wont have to jump on a plane! Hollys taking her Potassium Bromide, and she needs to take that for 2-3 weeks, and Dr. Anderson needs to get the bloodwork and urinalisis results from Saturday. So I will wait to hear from him when he thinks would be enough time on the Bromide {Anti-seisure med}. Also I want to talk to him about the results. Also Holly has a Heart Murmer. So I am waiting to hear back from Dr. Anderson. Im sure it will be soon, and Holly is doing well right now! Sorry if I didnt make that clear last time I posted.
October 7 will be the day. {As long as my work will allow me to take the day off}. But that should be the day of Hollys Liver Shunt surgery, as long as all goes well.
