Hubby and I went to PetSmart around the middle of July keeping an eye out for some kitties to bring home to our crew. We saw some GORGEOUS white one with calico markings on their ears. I told the adpotion gal my name and number and what kind of dogs I had, she told me it would be about 6 weeks before they could be adopted out so that they could be tested and what not. I told her that was fine, just to call me and keep me updated. Well a month and a half goes by and last Saturday I went back into PetSmart. I talked to the same gal and she informed me the kittens had ring worm, okay fine it might take a while to treat no biggie. BUT that because I have a SIBERIAN HUSKY She probably would NOT adopt to me. Nevermind the fact that my husky is FOUR months old AND has been around cats for about 2 weeks before with no problems. So I told her I'd find someone else.
Hubby and I went to the local animal control shelter place yesterday and found the sweetest mama kitty and her daughter (originally written on the card to be a son!) I filled out the application paper work and AGAIN a volunteer who talked to me about the interview told me she'd "Question having a husky in the house because they are all cat killers!" Well I kept kind of pushing her aside telling her I can train her and seperate them and yadda yadda yadda. The Foster mom was even there okay with us taking them! Anyways, I went ahead and set up an interview for today and..........
didn't get the same volunteer doing my interview. The gal who interview me basically wanted to know if Tiki had been around cats before (which she had) if we knew the responsibility of training and everything else. I'm home all day (which I think helped) and have done my research with Husky's before I even contemplated getting one.
Well, after a 30 min or so interview and paperwork filled out, would you believe it we have two new kitties. I suspect both are kittens though, mama I suspect is MAYBE a year old and baby is supposed to be around 4 months. But both are soooo small! Tiki and Lola both are so curious but they don't chase them and want to just play with the kitties!
Anyways, thought I'd share my excitement and frustrations with you all. I thought about being a foster mom with kitties but want to wait till tiki adjusts to these two. Imagine a foster mom with a Husky AKA Cat killer. Makes me roll my eyes and the frustrations of people. okay better stop here or I can get off on a tirade. I'll post pics as soon as I can
Instead of adding pics to an outrageously long post, I thought I'd just reply
Tiki & Lola anxious to play
"mama" kitty hanging on the chair
"mama" kitty & Tiki
"baby" kitty & Tiki
"baby" kitty
Still have some names to pick out. Thought about Bella for one. Would you belive they have "Mama" at 2 years (she's Maybe 5 lbs and that's after eating a WHOLE bowl of food ) "baby" was listed as male and at 3-4 months!
Congrats on the new kitties. They're both adorable. Rescue people mean well, but they can get kinda nuts sometimes. I'm glad you found someone who was reasonable.

some people are rediculous. just because she is a husky, doesnt make her a cat killer. and tiki is beautiful by the way. and lola is adorable . kitties too ! tiki is young enough to adjust to the cats. and frenchies are just playful little devils. they are not out to harm anything. i am glad you got to adopt them. im sure they have a very good home now. congradulations on you two new kids !
