What a jumper!

Well Lana jumped over our 8 foot fence like it was nothing, landing in our neighbors yard. We couldnt find her at first and then saw her next door. She has done this once before and I need her to stop doing it. She doesnt do it to run away, she does it when she sees squirells on the fence, she runs as fast as she can and jumps so high, 98% of the times she doesnt go over the fence she just jumps as high as the top.

Im nervous that if she does this agian that she will hurt herself landing on the other side, its a big drop.Im surprised that she hasnt already injured herself. Its only happened twice in 1 year but i dont know how to keep her from doing it. The fence is already 8 ft, i guess i have to find something to make it higher.

She just loves the squirells so much!

I hear your pain lol ..I have the same Prob with Harvey and it drives me crazy he sees a dog on the other side and he wants to play so badly that he will jump anything in his way. Luckily he hasnt broke anything yet but he seem to have bruised himself.. We are going to put and exstention onto the top of the fence so that it hangs over the garden off the top of the fence about 2 foot. So if he jumps up he is gonna bang his head ..rather than than a broken leg

the extension is a good idea. even if you just put it accross the side of the fence going into their yard. thats a pretty big drop to the other side. she could injure herself.

You could sort of make you fence look like jail. I mean put something on the top to where it hangs over into your yard. I don't know if I am explaining this right. Does this make since?

thats basically what an extension is pd. they attach to the top of the fence and lean slightly in . some people even run barbed wire accross the top. which is a good deterent for the climbers. my sister had to do that for their two boxers as they were actually climbing a 6 foot chain link fence.i wouldnt recommend it for a jumper though. just a basic extension should do the trick.

I treat jumping from ground level. I have a set of bars on the ground that are spaced to where they cannot, hopefully, catch and break a limb...yet cannot get sure purchase to jump from. Essentially, it is a ladder, raised about 5 inches off the ground, laying flat

I have never thought of that. Doesn't it hurt the dogs if they do jump up and come back down on it?

I think I would treat it at the source, which in Sydneys case seems to be the squirrels. Have you thought about a lattice addition? Squirrels don't really care for it and it would add heighth in case anything distracted her. I would be leary of having something on the ground, I also would be afraid they would hurt themselves. Or I would! lol
